Aluminum Center Section
Moser Extreme 40 spline gun drilled axles star flanged

Moser M9 above, assembled with Wilwood brakes/calipers minus the torque arm and tranny crossmember = 198 lbs
Keep in mind the Wilwood brakes are indeed lighter. Bob

I swapped out my beefed up 10 bolt for a MWC 9" a few months back... This was the rear and backing plates on both.
The 9" was 10 lbs lighter. Only thing different between the two rears was the 10 bolt had oil and the 9" was dry. If Im not mistaken, the 10 bolt was ~163ish and the 9" was ~153ish.

I also bought the MWC TQ arm that comes with it, it was 20 lbs lighter then my Spohn TQ arm was.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MADMAN

Burkhart 100% chromemoly housing, Moser aluminum center section, 35 spline axles star flanged and gundrilled. Dual Strange caliper brakes, Moser torque arm mount with Madman torque arm came in at 184lbs. full of oil
3.50 35 spline Pro Gear with a steel spool. The caliper brackets are alot lighter than stock.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

studderin

10bolt was 150lbs

WAHUSKER

My M9 weighed 40 lbs less than my Moser 9" did. I think the #s were 195 vs. 235 fully dressed....looking.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exotic Performance Plus

Moser M9 Housing with ends welded on and torque arm brackets welded on, minus control arm brackets. 48.5 lbs.

We had the housing above made for an '06 GTO, and we need to locate the lower control arms ourselves. This is why the above rear does not have lower control arm brackets already installed on it. Bob

Good question!
We just installed a Moser nine inch with a Truetrac and 31 spline axles, but it didn't get weighed. We have another Moser 9 inch on it's way for a customer's car with a brand new option that Moser hasn't yet had. We'll weigh this one for sure. Bob

We weighed a stock 10 bolt with no brakes on it vs a 9inch with Detroit Locker, 35 Spline Axles and the trq arm mount also with no brakes and it was a good bit heavier. If i remember correctly it was a good bit over 50lbs heavier, this also didn't have the aluminum center section.

Take off 15#'s for an aluminum center and another 15#'s for the Wolfe bar and you're at 209#'s. That gets you about 11#'s for the housing difference.

Forgot to add, I've got a Moser 12 bolt for a third gen f-body that weighed in at 193#'s with 33 spline axles, Eaton limited slip, aluminum cover, no brakes or fluid.

Good to see this thread. I want a light 9" housing with gundrilled axles, aluminum center , lightened ring gear and that trick aluminum diff with 3.90 geras. Currie has some track 9 stuff with .188 tubes but they don't put f-bod brakes on it. My 10 bolt is busted now. Who's gonna make me a rear the way I want???? Have cash in hand

The ring and pinion gear werent mentioned??

Also what kind of differential?? like a spool or torsen? etc..

lastly the strange caliper brakes, how light are those compared to OEM rotors and stock calipers?

because if all of this is what I wanna hear, this is a differential WORTH spending $$ on on
