The main thing they did wrong was to design the car to weigh 4000 lbs. It's a great car for daily driving or street duty. It makes good power, good handling, stylish looks, nice interier, ect.

But take them to the track and you see why the fbody is a better design then zeta in straight line performance. IRS eats more HP and is harder to launch. Strike one. 20" street tires are harder to hook then 16" or 17" street tires. Strike two. 3900-4000 lbs is a lot more to pull down the track then 3400-3500 lbs. Strike three.

Problem is they didn't design the car for ls1tech enthusiasts. They designed the car for a 40 year old lawyer who wants to turn heads on the way to court during the week and impress his kids in the back seat on the way to the park over the weekend.

Luxury with some LS3 kick and a cool retro look. It's an awesome car for what it was designed for. Just don't expect awesome numbers at the track.

I like the look of the 5th gen Camaro and but I can't get over the size and weight of it. I don't really care if it has a LS3 if it weighs 500 pounds or more than my 4th gen.

It's easier to add power than to remove weight.

I've been seeing New Camaro's running around in South Holland and Calumet City, and I don't like the styling.

The only reason it catches my attention is because it's "new" and we talk about them on the forum. Once I look at them though, I see how ugly and fat they are.

Currently, I think the 5 gens look better n maybe over time my luv for them will fade...like someone previously said they will probably be played out just like the mustangs... but i still luv my 98 SS and i still have to stare at it every once in a while.

they look good. dont lie. and i would trade my ss for a new one any day of the week. then i would sell it and get a vette. because for 45k fully loaded thats about the stupidest thing ive ever ever ever heard of. used c6z06 anyone? or save a lot more money and get an ls3 vette.

Only way it gets up to 45k is if you add the 21" wheels and the GFX package. Its more like 37k fully loaded.

I won't pay $30k plus for a camaro, so if I buy one it will be used. I don't like the radio or the look of the fronts seats in the camaro. For now I'll keep my WS6!!!!

I really like the new camaros, but i would not get rid of my 4th gen for one. Wait a few years, the new camaro will be played out because of all the hype its received and a 4th gen trans am will still look as bad ass as it did on the showroom floor....

Also to the guy who said the 20s are too big and it should have 16s or 17s.... you obviously havent seen one in person because the wheels do not look at all out of place, and if you threw a set of 16'' on there it would look like complete shit. I think these cars could pull off a 21/22 combo no problem.[/QUOTE]

Wow, just wow. They should make them gold too.
haha i agree that the 20s look in place because the newer cars are gettin bigger and bigger i mean look at the new challengers lolz

I have wanted a loaded 4th gen for so long. in 05 i finally got one w/10,000 miles. if i would never have gotten it, id prolly like the 5th gen better, now it's just the fact that i have it, and compared to everything out now , the 4th gen is the best of the old school muscle car tech, w/out being that old, i might actually roll the odem, over 30,000 miles this month

The first time I read this thread or one close to it I was undecided. Thought they look good on paper but I wanted to see a few in person. I think they are butt ugly. If I was going to buy anything I would just buy a G8. I would rather have one of the fastest 4 doors than a slow ugly 2 door.

New Camaro... The interior alone tramples the 4th gen by miles!! Not to mention the body which took some cues from the 1st gens. This is like comparing 4th gens to 3rd gens
.....I don't get it, so many people whined and begged for the new Camaro, now those same people bitch about it !!

If this poll was taken in june 1992, the voting would likely be 84% in favour of the 3rd gen vs. 16% for the 4th gen.
agreed!!!
