I have had a 98 T/A, A4, Black w/t-tops, since late 2005. It currently has 59,000 actual miles.
I want to have a 'bird in the future, say 15-20 years from now that is increasing in value, and is considered a "rare car".
Do you think the WS6 is the thing to have down the road, or is the standard TA going to be desirable and hold value too?
I have just had the thought in my mind of selling now and getting a WS6, or keeping the one I have. It is a very clean car inside & out, unmolested, stock except Lid and catback.
Like I said just looking for opinions.
Thanks in advance.

ITs really what its worth to you. I would not plan on any normal TA or ws6 being collectors. But maybe firehawks, CETA, or something like that. Just think back in time. the only TA and camaros that are really collectors now days are the 1967-1972 years. my .02
BTW that is pretty clean for a black car. If it was up to me i would mod the piss out of it and call it a day. but thats me

Well black was the most common color made and they made more auto's than m6's, so you have one of the most common birds made. In 15-20 years who even knows if there will be gas readily available?
If you are wanting something to put up, I would find a stripped out Formula WS6 6-speed. Hard to find, but I feel will bring some money in the future. Or maybe even a Formula Hawk, but even harder to find.
Any LS1 powered F-body will be worth decent money in 20 years provided the world doesn't change drastically. The key is condition! Not many will be around any longer in stock original form. Look what the low horsepower mid to late 1970's Trans Ams are bringing today. Our cars are MUCH better. Ask someone back in 1989 what a late 70's T/A would bring one day and you would be laughed out of town. They would say ZERO! The same holds true for our cars today. Learn from the past. The main thing is still to enjoy it. Daily driving won't keep the car nice but weekend cruising and putting 1,000 - 2,000 miles per year on the car won't hurt it at all. 59,000 or 79,000 miles will not make a difference way down the road as long as it is original and in very good condition. Of course rarer models always do better and convertibles almost always have a higher re-sale as well, but be comfortable with what you have.

I don't know.....just as there are guys that prefer the A4 today, there will be then won't there?
Exactly! Automatic transmissions do very well in collector cars too. Some people just insist that their cars be manuals. No problem as they can find those if they want them. Don't be put off by naysayers. They exist in every automobile forum on the internet and I belong to a few of them. I have no idea why they despise automatics so bad. They are never going to be forced to buy one. I own both types and enjoy them both equally. No need to put them down.

yep id rip that crap off the windshield and swap hoods for sure, it would be hard for you to find one clean as you have, mod the f*c^ out of it
I'm glad you said that. The emblem across the windshield was there when I bought the car and I have always kind of disliked it but thought maybe it was just me. That settles it....I'm taking it off. I think it makes it cheap.

Just enjoy it, if they really do become a colllector car like the first gen camaros people dont really care about the factory options, people are paying 10grand for a roller in bad shape these days to buuild, just enjoy it nad keep it in good shape.

DD 07 Tahoe LTZ- with active fuel mangement to get better mileage, thats a JOKE. P.H.K.
your car in 15 years will be worth the same amount as a third gen is today. no fbody (except maybe clean, low mileage CETA's and 35th's)will not return a profit
i think the fbodys that will bring money will be strippers/formulas/hawks/cetas...
i think that there are many fbodys that will be "desired".. therefore they will still bring in some money..
i have always said though that i dont think a black on black trans am with ttops will be worth as much as any other fbody.. simply because there are SOOOO many...
and whoever the hell said that no a4 fbody will hold value, only m6s..
get a clue..
