Hmm ls1 cars need a sweet nick name like "Terminator" to revamp their image...
i think ls1 is intimidating enough, ford needs fancy shit and 100 diff models to appeal, gm kept it simple with the f-body. no need in a cutesy "top-secret code name"

i dont think its lost street credibility. im nat going to beat a dead horse on this, its been said 100 times in this post. still plenty of them at the top on the street.
only thing i dont like, i had an LT1 ta in high school, always had good runs with ls1 cars. they couldnt drive....lol. but always wanted a ls1. now that i could finally aford one, they got (as said) ls2,3,7,9, way more crazy shit. but a good thing with the new ones coming out is, maybe parts prices will start dropping for our fbody's....we can hope (400 bucks for a cam is quite a bit...) but power/weight, thats what im digging. so i picked up some cnc 243's getting a cam, and ill just keep the bottle full. in my area 10 second street cars are few and far between, quick stuff on the street is maybe in the 12's....lol.
its a top performer at the track and the street, all i can say about it---still has pushrods, 2 valves, small and light, and didnt need a supercharger to beat some ass.....(cough) ford....
12's are slow down here, if your not in the 10's stay home

i hear ya. when i get off this deployment, 10's will be the new number in my area too. 1bad_ls1 has got a turbo 5.3 in his car, that will soon run 10's if nat faster. and i will have h/c/i/n car. im just excited to start owning on all this new shit that people think "ah, new camaro will beat old TA" or "challenger w 425 horse will smoke your LS1" im way excited!

That is very true. I have completely lost count of how many new models of Mustang there are.

A fbody? Come one...maybe some nasty Walmart pussy.
Exotics definitely attract hot chicks...fbodies, mustangs, corvettes? Not
so much. Besides, anyone that needs a car to get laid is pretty pathetic.
Long thread just to find out that the LSx stuff still is really potent.

i dont think the ls1 has lost any cred at all. but a lot of people are starting to use the LSX name like this forum i found last night. must be new as it has changed skins over night. www.lsxcountry.com
I no what your feeling. At my high school everyone thinks that my car is the slowest in the lot..I would supposedly lose to a stock 01 325i, stock non turbo probe, stock charger r/t, stock sti's... subiis would be the only half challenge.....to fix this problem, i took a few kids for a ride and i changed a lot of minds...most will never ride with me again..

ls1's have, if anything gained cred. Whos got a stock ls1 anymore? All the little rice boys are more likely going to run into a 400+hp ls1.

Though I drive through the valley of rice,I shall fear no turbo for torque art with me. Thy rod and piston, they comfort me.
around where i live its alot of hondas and mustangs. granted some of them are fast cars and will run down some ls1 cars but the people who own them arnt duchebags for the mostpart they still have respect for the fact that our cars are fast for what they are. its nice to be able to get respect from somone driving a 500+ horse c6 zo6 even though i drive a slower car. the people your hanging with are just stupid. none of my friends ever want to run me anymore. haha its a good problem to have and im not even modded that much basicly stock. just tell them to line up and let the cars doo the talking simple as that.

"Lost its street 'cred? I wasn't aware that you could lose it after you won it. Well if it has, what can you expect from a 12 year old motor? I'd say the LS-1 is starting to go the way of the 60's street Hemi; it had its day but it's becoming more of a legend, especially with the rice-rocket crowd with the memory and attention span of a goldfish. Now, I'm not saying that a legend can't still get in the ring every once in a while, but there're newer, better motors out there..."
