What about those few M6 cars that have ASR as well, like mine? If it really helped, then you'd be fucked.
Unfortunately I can't stand that shit. I'm getting rid of ASR, ABS, AIR, EGR, DKX, KDN, all of it. lmao Ok, so I made the last two up, but you get the idea...

VERY few M6 cars have it, and unfortunately mine is one of the few...Nothing like trying to roast the tires off with 500hp on tap and the damn ASR kicks in cause you forgot to turn it off.

I dunno I just got the thing. Seems like a form of traction control to me. Haven't tried launching with it on or off.

Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR)
Quote:
The goal was to assist the driver of this high horse power front engine, rear wheel drive sports car on low coefficient surfaces. This goal was accomplished with the functional integration of engine torque management and brake intervention. This required functional integration of three subsystems: engine spark retard, throttle close down and brakes. This is the first application for a throttle close down device which provides driver feed back of slippery road conditions, through the accelerator pedal.

Or pull into the staging lanes... Turn your line lock on... Push the button to hold it.. Give it around 1/2-3/4 throttle... And........ Errr, errrr....

"haha look at that guy, can even get his car to burn out..."

hahaha, same thing happened to me the first time i drove my buddys 01 Camaro at the dragstrip. i wasn't used to traction control since i've always drove my 69 down the track. but at first i just figured it couldn't do a good burnout since it was 2.73 geared and was mostly stock. then i remembered the button from riding with him before lol.

i wouldn't use it to launch with, from my experience it only slows u down. its better to spin than have that thing cut your throttle.

The ones in our cars suck.. They do have some after market ones that are killer though. Expensive as shit.. But sweet.. It is more for high HP street cars from what I have gathered though.

Isn't it really just a fancy throttle stop or do these aftermarket ones actually tie into the computer and modulate the transmission % output and the brakes also?

ASR is weaksauce. There is a reason for two feet and three pedals.

My A4 doesn't have the ASR although I kinda wish it did as its not being built as a race car. My v6 has the ASR though. Go figure, the v6 has traction control and the v8 doesn't.. the car that probably needs it....i hate spinning the tires when im not trying to....its a waste of a perfectly good tire...lol

Don't worry.....I've almost did a complete burnout in reverse. Good thing it was just a TNT night and not many people .

I didn't notice it until the car started going backwards when I was easing off the brakes lol.

One thing I'll always check from now on.

your v6 has ASR? don't you mean SGS?

Second Gear Start is worthless. all it does is... put the car in 2nd gear from a stop.
