thats totally understandable. i run a pullied cobra with full exhaust, on DR and cammeed, and he only pulls me by 3. but i recently got my lid and P/P tb so i wanna go back and see if that helped any.
Again, i complained about this before, but people really need to stop putting cars on "unbeatable" pedestals. It happens with vettes, it happens with fbodys, it happens with cobras.
Anything can beat any car, any time, if you set it up the right way. I know people who drive civics that are faster than 99% of all cars on the road.....
And good kill, 100% believable that a cammed LS1 would walk a STOCK cobra. Pullied would be more of a drivers race.

Ford rates the Cobra Coupes at 3664 lbs. and the coupes are somewhere around 39XX lbs....which is still heavy. The new ones are the real pigs at 3900 for the coupe and over 4k for the convert.

Right on guys. And my car is an M6 for the guy who asked.
Now lets do some bench racing. Stock c5 z06 vs stock Termy? Outcome? Based on numbers i would guess drivers race....?
Z06 walks it all day with its eyes closed. People have gotten them into the 11s bone stock.

Oh and about 28psi through Cummins diesel pickup turbo..... good for mid 11s.....
maybe. my source was from an 03 cobra owner himself who has put his car on a truck scale. Granted I don't know what all he had in the car like a stereo or what not. I don't care enough about them to search for the actual weight. I figured his word was pretty good since he actually owns the car and had it on a scale
God am I going to get flamed for this, I know it... But anyway, I will tell my story that I swear is legit. For those in the Pittsburgh area you know Monroeville, to those who arent... It is a commercial area with malls, and stores all over the place... and more so, it has a four lane that passes through it the entire stretch which is William Penn Hwy... While I was out putsing around after shining the car up I ran across a newer red GT-500, Fords showboat and pride... I at the moment was at a stop light to make a left turn and he was pulling out of a parking lot... he was starring at me and when he had the chance to pull out he did it "spiritedly"... I took this as a sign that he wanted to have some fun today and I pulled a U'y lighting them up the whole way through and proceeded to follow him down the stretch... We ran in to a great deal of traffic and drove for a while back and forth until we got to a light side by side... Only problem was that the light was still green, however, we both stopped at it... With traffic honking behind us and our windows both down we looked at the over pass just ahead of us beyond this light... A straight stretch in which no cops could sit. He motioned and yelled JUST GO ON 3... Three honks of his later and we were off... I at the time had Nitto Extreme Drag II's on the rear and I would later find he was on stockers... So I hooked as good as those tires could do on that pavement. That may in fact have been my saving grace, as the lead I received from that launch was the lead I mantained the entire race. Through 5th and into the 130 MPH range I staye 1 to 1 1/2 cars ahead of him... After which we ran into another stop light and a visible traffic situation... We both turned off and talked about what just happened... Me being shocked as I expected to lose, and was just curious how I would hold up. He went on to say that he hit every gear as good as it could be hit and the car just didn't do what he had expected... It was only 6 months old and he specifically told me he was sorry he spent the money on it... we laughed and bullshit for a while, then took off... There it is, thats my story... Fords new "GT-500" just couldn't hold its own. Thank you, and begin to call me a liar now

with those mods you should have been able to beat a stock cobra. heck, even some of our guys here on ls1tech with just boltons with no cam were either neck and neck or slightly pulled a stock cobra. so with a cam, id say u can pull on a stock cobra.

I raced one a few weeks ago (just a couple roll ons) and beat him. The people my local board are seriously doubting it. Does it really sound that asinine? I definitely dont think so.
Mods are LTs, hooker catback, LS6 intake, lid, Torquer2 cam.
with the drag set up tires she runs an impressive 9.2 in the 1/4 with a tricked out 402 ls2 , trickflow heads, 228 228 624.624 , full suspension , tubed frame with 6.5 k clutch dumps
A bolt on + cam LS1 will be in the 370-390RWHP range, 400 with the right cam. A 03 Cobra will be in in the 360-380RWHP range in stock form.
It's basically a driver's race. Same driver's will be the car with the traction edge or the one with the power edge.
Once modded an 03-04 cobra requires the LS1 to be full heads/cam + traction mods. Even then it'll require more CI or FI to exceed it.
There is a video of these 2 guys local to me camaro has f13 cam stock ls1 intake headers exhaust mail order tune and he runs 11.6 to the pulleyed full exhaust bolt on cobras 11.85.
That sounds right to me. Im just running bolt ons and i have beat 2 04 cobras on the street and a 03 at the track. They are not as big as people make them out to be.

I just sold my Cobra and I would be the first to justify your local friends are morons. A cammed/bolt on LS1 could and should put a few cars on the stock Cobra. Now a 2.8 pulley and supporting mods, you better be able to trap 118-120 in your LS1. If he has a Ported Eaton, you better be able to trap 123-125 to beat him. With a KB, you better be able to trap 133+ since that is what my old one is running. They ARE NOT THAT HEAVY. 150lbs more than an F-body. 3660 vs 3500 (+/-) FYI.

Not stock, but a blower swap, injectors, MAF, tune Spec 3+ and a swapped live axle from a GT and mine is running 10.33's at 133mph with a 3:55 gear and it idles and runs like a kitten. Now a stand alone fuel system and a 150 shot it should be brutal and the valve covers have never been off the car (amazing). Thier potential makes the popular.
Well, This went haywire...Yeah, Good Races, if it really happened, and yes, very feasible. Plan to spank on one when i go home! Gonna take the juice though

In my experience you will need to be within 40-50rwhp to run even with one. When I was full bolt-ons making 353rwhp I ran a friend who had intake and catback 03 making 410rwhp we raced a thousand times and ran even...After my cam I have raced a million pullied cobras. I have usually put about 1-2 cars on them to 130. I have raced one with full boltons and a pulley and we ran dead even. With a 150 shot I'm hoping to be able to hang with my buddies 2.2 kenny bell cobra. Bad drivers...possible, but not likely that all of them suck... Here is an in car vid of me and my buddies yellow cobra with 2.76 pulley, x-pipe, catback, intake, tune:
