Default How the hell do I fix this?? (window related)

My window motor went out and I figured out why it's been rattling and not very smooth going up.

Any suggestions?

Looks like it could be repaired by drilling it out and using a bolt.

I think.

Or, replace the piece that has that part attached.

Mine broke in that exact same spot! I just went ahead and purchased the whole metal bracket on the bottom of the window from the dealership and had a glass shop in town replace it for $75.

The Camaro window guides and motors are the same quality as the alternators.

Damn it. . . .

At least my Camaro is still holding up, yet I only start it once a week.

...yeah... i need to replace something in my window...

even with the adjustments, I can't get my window to go up all the way, and it's very loose in the tracks... i think it's the wheels that hook the window to the tracks...

anyone know where to get this stuff?

I've been told a fix on another forum. Basically you just drill and tap the pin that comes off the wheels and thread a small bolt in it with a washer. I 'll be using a shitload of locktite too

I had this same problem a few months a go and went to pontiac to get replacement part only to find out it was no longer made due to the fact the car is ten years old. They gave me the name of a good body shop that tack welded the thing in two places for $84 and I have not had a problem since. Also check to see if the rear window stabilizer broke off on the top part of the door just under the panel trim. Mine did and I replaced it also as I'm sure it was the cause of the whole thing.

Yeah that piece broke loose on my 94. You can remove a stop on the track and slide the broken piece out. I then drilled a hole in the end of it and tapped it for a small bolt/washer to hold it in the hole it broke out of. I don't remeber the tap size, either 8-32 or 10-32.

It was posted in a thread in this section by someone. I can't remember his name but he said it is a Doorman product you can pretty much order at NAPA, O'Reliey's ect.

He posted a link to them online.

I will update this post whenever I find it.

Here's a post with some links to doorman roller parts, but... even if you can find a replacement part, you'd still have to take the channel off the glass to do the repair. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=window

At that point, I would think it would be a whole lot better to go the route of a sure-thing and get a whole new window channel from the dealer. That way, you can be sure that you wouldn't have to go and take it all apart again if the handy man approach didn't work.

Mine broke in the EXACT same place. Took the whole window out and had a shop tack it in place with welder, been fine every since. BTW, mine got like that cuz when I replaced the motor forgot to re-lube that slide.

Same thing just happened to mine except the guider and the frame were completely broken. I just got done replacing the window today and when I roll it all the way up it seems the rear side of the windows comes up a little higher (above the tint line) and then the front of the window seems to stop leaving about 1/4"-1/2" gap. I can yank up on the front of the window to get it to come all the way. I have been screwing with the adjustment screws and crap for awhile, but can't get it fixed. Anyone have any ideas?
