I really don't see how there would be much difference, the coils put out so much you're talking getting hit by a large bolt of lightning or a larger bolt of lightening

I used truck coils because they're what I had, but I have heard they are a little more potent

I know I don't want to get hit by either accidently

the stock ls1 coils make a lot of power and are nor bad at all . as mentioned the truck coils are an upgrade even though they have to be runned with engine mods that will show the benefit . a lot of forced induction guys use them since turbos and superchargers deal with more air and the added spark compliments them well .

i think the tuck coils are mitsubishi made if i remember right .

This is info from www.megasquirt.info that i found not long ago,,

:the LS2 coil (GM# 12573190, AC Delco D514-A) from the 2005-2006 Corvette (& GTO and Avalanche), and
the GM coil used on 2002-2005 Cadillac Escalade, 2000-2006 Yukon, 1999-2006 Chevy Silverado, 2001-2005 Trail Blazer, and some Hummers, etc.. The model is GM# 10457730 or AC Delco D585 (also Wells C1251, Standard UF262, GM/Daewoo 190005218). The LS2/truck coil has a visible external aluminum heat sink near the connector.
These LS2 coils are incredible. Even compared to the LS1 coil, these are just crushers! On the LS1 coil there is around 40 milliamps of peak secondary current with 5 milliseconds of dwell time. On the LS2/truck coil (AC Delco D585), there is 120 milliamps!

We will call the second coil type the LS2/truck coil. These two types of coil have the same connector and pin-out, but the physical mounting pattern is different. The coil connector (GM# 12580353) can be found as:

but they are talking about the d585 (truck coil) that one has 120 milliamps compared to the LS1/LS6 coils that onlyu have 40 milliamps,
either way the LS1/LS6 coils are plenty strong enough , but because i am Procharged , it would be nice to have those truck coils on my car.

Now with the D514-A LS2 coils , i wanted to know if those were stronger than the LS1/LS6 coil.

no it the other one, the D585 coil, GM part # 10457730
they refer to it as the LS2/truck coil

very powerful coil,

but i think the standard LS2 car coils are more efficient than LS1/LS6 coils, and they look cleaner , nicer too

the ls2 style coils/harness/brackets all install great with no adapters needed except for mounting the bracket on the drivers side.

I'm wondering the same thing. Should be doing an LTCC setup very soon and want to get the best coils for my setup.

The LS9 coils are the same as LS2 LS3 LS7 coils...It's just that the coils bolt right to the LS9's valve covers...The older LS1 style coils and older square truck coils are a NO GO IMO...I'd use either the D585 coils or the newer LS2/3/7/9 coils....

Good to know. Since none of these will bolt up to my valve cover anyway I can go with any kind. I guess I'll go a huntin' on ebay!

BTW, I found someone selling 8 new LS7 coils with the brackets for $300. I don't really know that value of the brackets to determine if that's a good price. Any feedback?
