Default Thanks Patrick G Nice Gain with Flowmaster Merger Y Pipe.

You will probably pick up at least 10 rwhp by running the proper y collector and keeping your cats. Just run the 4" pipe as far back as you can before reducing it to 3". While a 4" cutout is nice, the 3" loudmouth flows pretty well.

Well I recently bought the Flowmaster Merge collector and had an exhaust shop install it. I took photos of it. It is on my phone dont know how to put it on internet. Anyway what a diffrence. The TSP catted Y has been modified and both pipes from headers are merging perfect(Parrell to each other rather than perpindicular. I probably got 10-12 rwhp just for doin that. Like u said. I feel more torque from 2000-4000 rpms. Before I was at 390 rwhp, now I know I am about 400 rwhp. Cant wait to get the Tony Mamo ported AFR Heads and Ported Fast 92mm. Thanks Pat G.

Good report. One 3" pipe slamming together into another single 3" pipe is not an ideal way to construct a y-pipe for making power (or sound). The Flowmaster merge collector into a 4" pipe is a good mod. Does the tone sound any different?

yea it does, no rasp inside of car at the rpms you had advised and when we first started the car there was some poping of the exhaust, then as car warmed up it went away.No drone, it sounds a lil more deeper.

Summit or jegs. $45.00 for pipe and then labor for someone to install it. Now there is no restriction on my exhaust.

The idea is to go from this:

To something more like this:

Patrick G- Where can I get that kind of merge? That ones look like it is stainless vs. the flowmaster which is not. I seen where LG developed that merge but I am unable to find it on there website. Any help?

It's an LG y-merge that Burns Stainless makes exclusively for LG. It's totally badass, but big megabucks. The flowmaster merge comes fairly close in power while costing around $50.

I would say the Burns comes fairly close in power to the Flomaster. Its nice and its stainless and you can tell it flows good but probably not quite as good as the Flowmaster.

Yep, while it may make a little more power, contrary to popular belief, it doesn't kill rasp.

If the parts arrive on schedule, mine may be coming off over the weekend. I'm going to experiment with a new set-up. I'll PM you if it works out that I don't need my powerpack anymore.

Yea LG sells the Y merger for about $350.00 whereas you can get same performance from a Flowmaster merger for about $50.00. Then have a muffler shop install it. Nice gains from 2500 to 4000 rpms. Can't wait to get my AFRs and FAST Intake.

Thats kinda what I did, except I do not have a cutout yet, but will soon.
I had that same exact ORY in pic 1.... I hated how it sounded... mad rasp and a hammering noise from 2000-2500 RPM. So I bought a flowmaster merge, and had that installed. Now car sounds better, tho still a bit of rasp... The merge I got though was a 3" to 3.5"... not 4" like the OP did. Maybe rasp would be gone if I had went with the bigger merge. Nonetheless it was worth every penny and I would suggest to anyone to go with this merge.
On a side note, where do u get a stainless cutout like that but in 3.5"? Price?

The Power Pack is a bullet style muffler that goes into the I pipe to reduce rasp
