Default Difference in sound between cats and no cats?

I'm looking to get ARH and was wondering if the catted Y was quieter than the non-catted Y. Is it a significant difference?

Thanks, Mike

cats are quieter, more restriction in exhaust. a lot of the sound will depend on the cat back you have though. the Cats will usually quiet the raspyness of most exhaust systems.

I had ARH LT's and an ARH ORY on my GMMG catback and it was way too raspy and loud. I couldn't go down the road and listen to my radio or talk on my phone comfortably. I put in a chambered muffler to quiet it down but if I could do it over, I would just get cats. Hope that helps

97camarozguy hit it spot on. Cats control the tone, as well as turn the volume down a little bit. I wish I could fit cats on my setup, but right now I can't.

I have a magnaflow catback so I will probably get the cats to keep it quiet. I'm trying for a sleeper setup. I know headers will not help but the do help for the power.

I replaced JetHot headers with a non-catted y-pipe to Magnaflow catback to ARH 1 7/8 with ARH catted y-pipe with same Magnaflow catback.

The ARH with cats IMO is louder than the JetHot's without cats. I am getting tired of the noise so will add a muffler in the I-pipe to try to quiet it down and get rid of the rasp.

Have way too much money invested in exhaust systems to change to true duals which would have to be over the axle all the way to the rear. Borla was the first catback then switched to Magnaflow.

If you drive it every day I would keep the cats. I have hooker headers without cats and a Borla catback. I love it but I only drive it on weekends.

I used to have just the catback with stock manifolds and cats. Take it from me, it gets A LOT louder when you install headers and remove the cats.
