Well after forever iam finally gonna start putting some money into my baby. hopefull by next summer ill have a good amount done and dynoed and track times! it takes forever and once you think your done the more parts i hear about lol. anywayz i got in some lt BBK headers and ory and i cant wait another day to put em in but my friends lift is occupied so hopefully by the weekend. How long should this take with a lift? much be quicker than with jackstands.

the lift will definatly cut a few hours off of it. My first set of headers on an F body I did by myself with a lift and any tool i could ever want and it took me about 5 hours. That was the first work I have ever done on a F-body other then a lid and simple things like that. go for it dude

Mine were a bitch to install...took me about 7 hours but I was using jackstands and doing it by myself. Having another person wouldve been awesome...hell just having a lift wouldve been awesome, lol.

I think those are the first pics ive seen of BBK headers...they look very nice and that y-pipe looks pretty good, especially that merge.

Good luck on the install man, atleast yours is an 01/02.

What brand did you install?

I had to cut off the casting tab on the block and then remove the steering knuckle from the rack to get mine into place .I took a few breaks but I also kept my EGR and AIR so that added to the time of install as well.

EDIT: Thats if your not using the stock metal gaskets...I used the nice ones that my hookers came with b/c one of my stock ones came apart.
Also OP, when you get ready to put the headers in the car...take the gaskets (make sure the correct side is out if it matters) and use some side cutters and cut a v-shape under the first and last bolt hole. That way you can start the first and last header bolt and drop the gasket in from the top instead of trying to hold it in place while holding the header and try to start a bolt. Atleast it was easier for me b/c I was by myself.

will chrome last long in the heat, I was hoping they were ceramic coated because that would be a good price.

Do yourself a favor and get someone, anyone, a wife, girlfriend, buddy, hell, even a bum off the street to hold up the header while you thread all of the bolts into the head by hand. If you don't, you're going to strip a bolt or the head, or even snap off a bolt trying to force it in. A snapped, stripped header bolt sucks.

True.

I used a jackstand to help me with mine b/c my gf was in bitch mode and wouldnt help.

Another good thing to do is cut a notch out of the gasket under the first and last header bolt holes. That way you can start those 2 bolts, slip the gasket in, and roll on with your bad self. Of couse, this only works if your not using the stock metal gaskets. I used the thick, nice gaskets that came with my hookers b/c I jacked one of the stockers.

also sometimes it hesitates like its gonna shut off from a stop sometimes. does a tune have to be a dyno tune or will a regular tune be good?
