I just put a ported tb on my2000 TA. Ever since I did this it revs up to 2000 rpm's when I push in the clutch. If sitting still it will eventually go down to idle @ 950 rpm's. I also descreened the maf when doing this. I was very careful not to touch the wires. The tb was ported by someone I found on this site, who has a good rep. Any ideas?
it could be both, but im betting on it being your MAF. when you descreen it, you are adding more CFM to how much air flows through it. also without the screen, there is nothing to smooth out the air, so readings can be messed up. combine that with a ported TB, which adds even more CFM, you have a strange idle. if a tune doesnt fix it i would suggest you get a new MAF
i too am betting on the MAF but a good tune will help

Replacement O2 for LC-1 is Bosch 17014 $50 or for the pimple popn' kid behind the parts counter, tell him/her you have a 2001 VW Golf 1.8L and need the front/pre-cat sensor.
For what it's worth, I installed a Shaner S3 on my car and got the exact same symptoms, only not quite so high of an idle. I tried resetting the IAC sensor, but no luck. As I have driven my car over the last couple of weeks, the idle seems to be settling down. Not sure if the computer is "learning" or what. MAF screen is still in place, BTW...
