My friend advises me against the high lift, because he thinks i will be changing springs every couple of months. I take his word as he has quite a list of f-body builds to his credit. Maybe you could shine some light on this since you have the one in question, odarabla! thanx.

I have been having this cam in my car for about a year now and I put about 100 or so passes on it and 10,000 miles with no issues. I upgraded my valve springs to 660 lift springs when I did the work.. If you really want that cam but are worried about the springs I wouldn't take my or my friends word for it. Call Allan and ask him.. I did have the same concern but Allan assured me the springs would last.. If you have any more questions please let me know..
Darren, the F13 is proven time and time again. Results with the F14 dont seem to be as consistent or plentiful. For me, it was a toss up between the TR224 and the F13. The curves are very close between the two, but the F13 keeps pulling where the TR224 starts to plateau. I wasnt greatly concerned with this as I have a street car that doesnt spend all its time over 4k rpms. Im not a high shifter either, as I usually shift at around 6.2-6.3k rpms. For these reasons, I stuck with the TR224, because its a great all around cam that provides low, mid, and top end fun. Having said that, you seem to be going for as nasty as you can, and while I try to caution you about this, you know better than I do what you want. So, if you are looking for nasty nasty, you may wanna go bigger then the F13. People get the F13 for the same reason they get the 224 cams...they are great cams for the whole rpm range, and are fun at any speed...even top end. You are not really building your car for the street, so this doesnt really apply to you. Have you checked out some dyno graphs of the F13/F14 cams? Thats a good place to start because it will show you where the cam shines. While Im not a fan of big cams, cuz I think they are a bunch of hype, I also probably wouldnt like a 4000 stall for the lack of rpm room to play with. Once again, thats just me and Im in a street car frame of mind. That being said, a lot of people have good results with the 5.3/MS3 combo. That cam and your stall are gonna have to get a room cuz that should be a damn good match!! I dont know how much fun your car is gonna be on the street, but you said you are wanting to build a drag car, so here we are. You know Im not a fan of big cams, so as much as I want to recommend the F13 for you, I am worried that your 4000 stall will inhibit you from utilizing a lot of the F13s strengths (good mid range power, excellent torque curve, etc). One last FYI...it is hard to identify your weak links with a bolt on car, but anytime you bump up to this kinda level, your weak links become very evident (transmission, driveshaft, rearend, tires). So just keep in mind that any time you strengthen one thing, another becomes weaker. We will talk more in person when you bring your car over for the head/cam install. Until then, I hope I have helped out a little bit

nah it isnt too big for the heads at all. i just always like to stay smaller with the cam. even though your 4000 stall only has play time in the higher rpm range, you will still feel a nice piece of the torque curve, so you dont want a cam that only has good peak numbers....look for a good curve.

every couple months is a slight exaggeration. but it all depends on how hard and often you will be running the car.
