im doing the same swap on my 98 z with a t 56 so far all the sensors off the ls1 swapped right over no problems. i had to slightly bend the coolant tube under the tb so my fast 90 and tb would fit.

The alternator Bracket would actually have 2 fewer bolts if you don't drill the boss.
The bolt hole that has to be drilled is a 10mm x 1.5. Start with a small drill bit. I used a 1/8th for the pilot hole, then swap in a larger bit (3/8th). Then tap the hole. Run the tap down and back several times. Use plenty of cutting oil the whole time.
Set the depth of the drill bit around 1.5". This will give the tap enough room to cut without bottoming out, enough room for the bolt.
It's easy. Nothing to it.

The oil pressure sending unit has to be swapped over. The truck uses a 3 wire, the f-body a 1 wire. I've always thought that the 1 wire was a stupid design. It's plastic, super tall, and after several years in an engine bay gets brittle. I've broken 3 of them. I've often wished someone would make a kit to swap in a metal one off a Ford. If I remember correctly, the 2004 GTO also has a 3 wire oil pressure sending unit.

i did have a tech question for the m6 guys that have done this swap. the motor im throwing in my 98 z is out of an 03 escalade. i just bought a monster stage 2 clutch with light weight chromoly flywheel. it came with a slave cylinder and pilot bearing. i was just wondering if the pilot bearing will fit and work fine with the t-56 backed up to the lq9, also any easy tips for installing the pilot bearing?
