Default Mutha Thumpr cam?

just curious if this is a decent cam or not. I've never hered anything about it or seen dyno numbers.

I wasn't impressed by the performance of the thumpr cams in the SBC's... You really need to have a cam spec'ed to your type of driving, but that cam does sound nice with 24 degrees of overlap...

It made 95hp extra on a carbed 5.3L in a Car Craft article a few months ago.

I too am curious about a bigger duration lower lift cam. Especially for making big power without killing the valve springs.

It was the 227/241 version, Mutha Thumpr. Ill try to find the mag, or the article online.

Edit: I found it, it is for sure the 227/241 Thumpr..

That's a 96hp bump with a cam swap!

I sure wouldn't want that cam as a DD cam as where it starts making power....

Actually its far from a track cam, the whole comp thumper series cams are all show and no go. They designed these cams for the guy who only wants the sound of a choppy idle cam but still has good driveability. From a performance stand point theyre not that good.

Well there is alot more out there that can offer you more. Ive talked to comp cams reps direct and theyve all said the same thing theyre designed to give you the lope of a big cam and thats it. From a performance stand point theyre not that great.
