I have used the Comp, Jesel and Morel. They should all work well for what you are doing. The freestanding Jesel is best in my thoughts, but the 2,600.00 price tag is tough. Morel also offers a pressure fed oiling "premium" lifter that is very nice, I have used these in the .904 type as you get a bigger (300m) axle for longer life. They are around 900.00 which is still a bit much. The standard Comp and Morel have both gone about the same distance in miles before failure in a street car when I tested them, they both failed the axle/bearing. Racing only should give great life out of all the brands.

kurt, this is pretty much a race car that see's about 100 street miles a year.
i talked with the comp guys at the shootout and they said there lifters have under gone improvements over this past year. He is willing to make me a show special on the whole set up lifters, springs and cutting me a custom cam spec'd by Patrick G.
I'm going to call him and get a price set in stone and then shop around.

The comps are $545 from one vendor I talked with. Is that pretty reasonable?
I don't think I want to put $1K on a set of lifters. This motor is not worth all that.
The guy was also talking to me about putting roller cam bearings in it. Is that something that is worth doing on a motor like this or should I stay with reg cam bearings.

Roller cam bearing are interesting in some builds, but the cost is a problem and they are not really needed in your case.

I found the regular morel's at another vendor on here and I think they were like $450. That's a $100 cheaper than the comp's I priced.
Are these two on the same level in quality?

You need to know a little more before you buy the lifters. What lobe lift are you running for one. Some of the lifters you ar talking about cannot accomodate that much lift and some can. Not that they are better but they can accomodate much more. Spring pressure and usage is what you need to look at. Crower also has a good drop in LS1 lifter.
The bigger morels and crowers are better but you need to do lifter bushings so they work right which is way more money but like Kurt said they are also much better lifters and cost more.
At only 7500 rpm and with the right lobes in both lobe lift and intensity and not super crazy pressure springs probably any of these lifters can work actually.
Erik, they are comp sp/rp lobes. 245/256 .643/.648". What would I need for that kind of cam?
That's a very small solid cam. I'm curious as to why you are going thru the trouble and expense of the solid/adjustable valvetrain. We have run larger hydraulic cams to 7500 RPM with the cadi racing lifters and the stock rockers without issue. Consistant 8.90's @ 155 for over a year. Motor was sold. My buddy had it gone thru prior to selling it and everything looked good. Even the springs were still in good shape.

What would a big solid roller look like? Pat G said I could use a hyd lifter with this cam. We have the caddy lifters in it now.
