Default Thunder Racing CheaTR cam only results

Jason99T/A installed the CheaTR cam on his 125K mile WS6. His mods are nearly identical to mine except he has a Hooker catback and I have an SLP Dual Dual from an '02 Firehawk. Jason's results are with factory exhaust manifolds and cats. Thought everyone would like to see what the gains would be. Pretty solid gains both low and high. Impressive for a cam that is indistinguishable from stock. Specs on the cam are 215/230 .600/.578 117LSA 116ICL.

Me too. I think Jason's going to do that next. I believe he's got long tubes and a high flow cats and y-pipe in the works. Should have results in a few weeks (fingers crossed).

It looks like a nice street sleeper cam to mess with some cobras and such, but not great on the power. If stock like idle is the priority, looks great, but not for those going on a warpath for daily battle and weekend fun. Scoob, you like it, we may get it done in time to go dyno, like you dyno that morning pre-cam, then we'll swap and hit it again that afternoon. Tune and get final numbers????

Very nice!!! Any valvespring longevity concerns with that super fast intake lobe? Would yearly spring changes be required in your opinion?

How much power would be lost with say an XE lobe on the intake?

Changing springs is not a matter of time frame. One changes springs when they fall out of specs.
An XE lobe is a high rpm, high lift and does not add that much more life vs an XE-R.
That is why one should check the springs on a regular basis, kinda like changing oil. It is regular aftermarket cam /valvetrain maintenance.
A set of springs installed at proper height, with right lifter preload and correct length p-rod, will live longer.

This cam appeals to me! Think it'd pass an emissions test too? Unfortuately we have to worry about that kind of crap up here. Chrispy knows all about it!

Damn...those are very nice numbers for that cam. It's not as mild as you would think from just looking at the specs and numbers.

I'm really impressed with this cam, but I do have some questions.

You say the cam is indistinguishable from stock. I had a TR 224 in my car before and I know they use pretty aggresive profiles. When you pop open the hood and listen to the motor does it sound stock or like a sewing machine? I like the power gains but I don't want any valvetrain noise from a stealth cam. LS6 cam is indistinguishable.

What are Jason's bolt-ons/mods? 329 rwhp from a 2000 LS1 is pretty high.

Thanks
