Default L92 427....What's the best Heads/intake combo

I am currently very happy with my setup. It's an L92 427 stroker with P&P L92 heads and stock l76 intake. It's been giving me great results, but now I want better. The track I run at usually has a DA of 6000ft on average. I'm running in the area of 11.50 right now. I would really like to get into the mid 10's next spring. I have started by doing some weight reduction which should help me some and I am doing a th400 swap. I want to know if there is a really good intake and heads combo that has been better than the L92's for anyone. Also my cam right now is a Crane 250/266 .632/.632 112LSA.

well if I was going to do it I would get L 92 heads there ported more and flow incredible numbers just a intake thing but that new 102 fast will be out soon the place that has them and dose them up is total engine air flow (330)634-2155 they flow 353 at 600 lift 368 at 700 lift very good for big cube and there about 10 cc more volume not hogged to all hell and the nice thing is it will look stock just with some bolt ons

Man, if it were me, I would hold out until April and pick up the FAST LSXr 105mm intake and TB and have it ported. That will not get you to mid 10s but I expect it will be noticeable, especially given the L76 is quite a choke point up top. You may want to go to something like the TFS235cc heads, which could work as the new FAST is said to be compatible with both L92/LS3/LS7 heads as well as the cathedral port heads.

If you just can't wait, perhaps LS7 heads and intake, thoroughly worked, will get you there...?

Trying to gain a full second with a head/intake swap? Hmmmm.

Depends on how much cash you have to spend? Dual TB sheet metal intake and All Pro heads or ported LS7 heads and you might get there. That should be good for about 50-60 RWHP with the proper cam, I would think over the L92 heads and L76 intake. But you're gonna suck some of that power away with that TH400.

With a 427 id say try looking into the fiber tune intake with a nice set of heads. or wait for the fast 105 to come out and see what that does.

Side note where your peak power with that cam ? do you have a dyno chart u could post ?

pull the cam out and convertor,
swap in a 236/246@.050",.620".114l/c
and 3500 convertor max.
then this thing will perform.
th400 may not dyno hard, but will be more track friendly.
cheers dave.

I was going to say change the Cam up as well. That LSA is too tight, these L92's like a LSA that has a little more split.

I do not believe that the new FAST LSXr 102mm will work with a Cathedral port head. I dont think that it will work for the LS7 either. I was under the impression that it is only for the L92/LS3 head.

I think something that would really help my setup out is having a custom cam made for what I have, and have my intake ported. Possibly even going to larger injectors. I am currently running the stock L76 injectors, but they only run at 80% so it doesn't look like they are being overused.

The FAST intake coming in April (hopefully) will be a nice addition especially once ported I'm sure! If your injectors are at or under 80%, you aren't going to see gains by switching to others. I do agree there are better camshafts for your combo.

I was thinking it will be a modular unit that can work with any of them? Have I been hitting the pipe too hard?
EDIT: Yes!

I went with a bigger cam because from what I've seen, there aren't too many people that will go out on a limb and try new things. Most people just use what they see works. I just wanted to try something different and see how it worked.

There's nothing wrong with the LSA on your cam per se. It just has the completely wrong valve events for those heads and intake. Get a better cam in there and you'll pick up speed. We're all hoping for good results from the FAST when/if it comes out.

I decided to buy the GMPP carb style intake for the L92 heads. I am going to do some extensive porting on it and also try to clean up my TB porting a little more. I am also looking into having a custom cam ground for this setup.
