I have a friend that has a 2008 Z06. His only mods so far is a Corsa Catback. We recently tuned it and he gained 20RWHP and 25 RWTQ. He would like to install some LT headers but not sure what are good for these cars.
- He is not looking for max power
- He does not race the car
- Must be stainless steel
- Ease of install and fitment is number one priority
Whats a good brand with CATS for this car? A lot of companies claim a lot of things but lets hear your experiences.
I know of SLP, Kooks, American Racing Headers, and LG.
On average, what gains should he see with the addition of LT headers, 20-30 RWHP?
He has money in hand.
Thanks in advance!
Bill

We pretty much run Kooks on everthing-they always fit great and make good power.

If he doesn't race the car then why bother with any mods? ARH are known to be super good quality. Lots of dudes swear by kooks as well. Oh and headers on a Z06 only net like 10RWHP (with a headers tune). Should prolly just save his $$

He wants better sound plus a little more power. He's an older guy (mid 60's)
I kinda find it hard to believe that you'd only gain 10 RWHP with LT headers on a LS7. I'd expect at least 20 RWHP more.

While you will probably see over 20 rwhp with a tune and LT headers most of the gain comes from the tune. We tuned first and got 20 rwhp gain, THEN put on ARH on one car and retuned, for a whopping gain of 4 peak rwhp. We also tuned a different car, same 20 rwhp gain, put on LG headers, retuned, and got a gain of 2, yes two peak rwhp. We did gain over 10 ft lbs or rwtq from the headers. The stock exhaust on a Z06 is VERY good, much better than on the base cars. Some LS2 and LS3 guys are putting them on instead of long tube headers for pretty good gains over their stock systems.

Then u will be horribly upset.......the KOOKS are your best bet for fitment and quality in my opinion. Just buy from ANYONE but them, u will ALWAYS get a better price buying from a tuner/speed shop on KOOKS products. They hate to even answer the phone But u can not ignore quality and fitment

I would go ARH, astounding quality. Frankly, you can't go wrong with Kooks also - I have experience with both and they are both great for fitment and quality. LG is the only other brand I would consider if I had a Vette - and I'd go the 1 7/8 for sure, regardless of brand.
I would say ARH, KOOKS, or LG headers. In any order. Cant go wrong with any of them. Ill be going with ARH headers for my car once i get the cash saved up.

I would vote Kooks, based solely on the way they are shipped compared to LG. My last LG set came loose in the box. They were scratched up (doesn't matter cause I'm coating them anyways) and most of the pipe ends had to be stretched to fit correctly because they were bent up. The Kooks that arrived at the same shop were tightly packed and had none of those issues.

Guess power under the curve doesnt count anymore?
