Default LS1 LS7 top end

Can you build an Ls1 short block and put LS7 heads, intake on it or is the deck angles different?

Headers, do LS1 headers bolt onto LS7 heads or is the angle different?

Remember reading something about the angle for an LS7 being different.
Thanks
jay

Unfortunately, its not going to happen.

LS7 heads require a 4.100" bore at the very minimum. If I remember correctly, 3.905" is about as large as you can go on an LS1 aluminum block.

I could be wrong, but I dont believe the LS7's deck height is any taller than other standard LS1 blocks. What youre probabaly thinking of is the head design. The LS3/LS7/L92 style cylinder heads are a rectangular port, not the traditional cathedral port like your earlier LS1 heads. Because of this change, youre limited to the newer intake manifolds as well. (LS7/L76...)

I believe LS1- LS2- LS3- LS7 blocks are all interchangeable. The angle that is different is the intake side of the head, so you have to use an LS7 intake on LS7 heads or an LS3 intake on LS3 heads. The LS7 heads as stated need a minimum of 4.100 bore.
I have a 98 Firebird with a sleeved LS6 block w/4.100 bore so that would work with LS7 heads

So I could build a 402 LS1 based engine put in LQ92 heads on it with a fast 102/102 set up and it would be a drop in? You would be making a lot more than the mid to high 400's.
Maybe closer to 600?

I never read of anyone doing this they use the LS3 based block with the top end to match, why not do the above? No conversion kit, should be cheaper to do?
