10/30 oil is too thin of oil,Dont no your motor spec;s but if I was you I woulg go 20/50 weight oil.See if that helps new motors are going to use oil till the rings fully seal.also how is your tune are you running rich?hope you didn't wash out the rings.

That does seem like a lot. How many miles are on the new engine and how much does the catch can hold? I use Shell Rotella oil along with 1 bottle of GM Engine Oil Supplement for at least a few thousand miles for break in before switching to a synthetic oil.

sorry i've been away from the computer for a couple of days. But anyway i called the builder wed. and he said that he has never heard of that happening either, but he talked to his crew that did most of the work and they think that when they took the motor back apart when i had no oil pressure (before this problem) that they cleaned everything inside and out. And when they pulled the valley cover off they also took the black cover on the bottom of the vc and cleaned it out and forgot to put it back in for whatever reason. so i guess when i pull the manifold today thats what i will see hopefully. so ill change the oil clean out the manifold, catch can, lines, and whatever needs to be cleaned out. and HOPEFULLY it will run great....

Your engine builder has never heard that running a motor super rich before the rings are fully seated is bad? I'm not buying that at all. And yeah that baffle on the bottom of the valley cover, it's there for a reason.
