Is there any way to distinguish [Sp?] between the LS2/L76 and L98's without intake manifolds or exhaust headers?

Cheers

P.S. I know the L98 has VVT byt is that hidden behind the water pump and front cover?

Yes out of those three variants.

Only the L76 will have the Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly instead of the usual flat valley cover. The L76 will have an electrical connector socket in the center rear near the oil pressure sender.

L76 will have PCV hose coming out the rear left rocker cover, have funny looking valley plate with an electrical connector on the centre rear. It will have 5364 or 821 or 823 casting number on the heads.

L98 will have a normal looking valley plate, have 5364 or 821 or 823 casting number on the heads, have PCV hose coming out the front right of the valley plate.

LS2 will have 243 heads, normal valley plate, PCV hose coming out the front right of the valley plate.

L76 & L98 have intake ports as per the head on the left.
LS2 has cathedral intake ports as per the 243 head on the right.

IN AUSTRALIA.

L98 is an LS2 6.0 block with L92 type heads (5364,821 or 823 castings).
It does not have VVT or AFM (Displacement on Demand).

L76 is an LS2 6.0 block with L92 type heads (5364,821 or 823 castings).
It does not have VVT.
It does have AFM (Displacement on Demand). Hence the funny valley plate and electrical connector on it leading to solenoids.

LS2 is a 6.0 block with 243 heads.
It does not have VVT or AFM (Displacement on Demand).
