LQ4/LQ9 Oil Cooler

To run an oil cooler on the LQ4/LQ9 blocks, does the sandwich adapter need to be installed or is the block tapped for it? If it is tapped for it; where is it tapped at? Thanks

There is a boss on the side of the oil pan that can be removed and there are two -an fittings underneath. Its used for the oil temperature sensor on the corvettes.
