can this be done? i was thinking L92/LS7 heads with ported LS3 intake and a 23X/23X or 24X/24X. with kooks 1 7/8 non catted exhaust of course. and im not one of those nancys that "doesnt want to loose my low end even though i could get 50whp top end people."
give it to me straight, can this be done? and feel free to modify my "suggested" setup, thank you.
it will get driven a lot in the summer so i want some streetability of course but willing to sacrifice to make hp.
I'm definately not saying it can't be done, but it would sure take a perfect combination of parts. If you are running an M6 it will be much eaier. An A4 will be a huge challenge. I'm running a 427 stroker and making 502rwhp. But as anyone will tell you. The dyno numbers don't win races. The track speaks it all.
it will be an M6. im looking to get a 123-125trap speed with 200lb of weight reduction. and i think 500whp will get me there.
Where are you located? If you are near sea level and have a good track and good air, it might happen. The only problem I see is that to date, I know of only 2 GTO's that have trapped that high N/A and a stock bottom end. Both of which were built by Cartek. Like I said before, it would have to be a perfect match of components. You might also have to invest in a set of 3.91's in the rear end.
I run 535rwhp in my GTO everyday on a stock bottom-end. Mine is supercharged (13psi boost) w/meth and a very rich tune. I run it hard shifting at 6850rpm and it's holding up very well. Keep the tune rich and you shouldn't have any problems. I have a friend that has 700+ rwhp (APS twin turbo) GTO and didn't have problems (stock bottom) until he lost fuel pressure, went lean and broke the #7 piston ring land. When it was disassembled, everything was in perfect condition. No crank twisting, damaged rods or any damage at all. This doesn't mean there will not be problems at some point with our pistons/rods. If you want to be really safe, you can get a Compstar rotating assembly for ~ $2000. They're excellent parts for the money, come fully balanced and ready to assembly. You would just need to have the block machined and you're ready to assembly/go.
You can't run LS7 heads on your stock block nor will an LS3 intake manifold work on LS7 heads. There are plenty of good threads here already. Do a little searching and reading.

AFR or ETP heads, huge cam, ported fast 92, full exhaust, upd, and an electric water pump with an M6 and you'll be right at it. Gonna be expensive though. It'd be cheaper to just slap a procharger on it. Make more power too.

That's exactly the thoughs i'm having about this. That's why I just built a stroker. I spent more money, but I also made alot back from selling my old stuff and stock motor and ended up offsetting the cost greatly. I think added up, If I subtract out what I sold that went toward my stroker, I spent less than $6500 total. That includes kooks headers, and my stall converter.
i think with a large camshaft, fully ported fast 92 and nice trickflow/etp, or any other similar head, plus an over the radiator intake, you could make 500 rwhp

Who makes an OTR intake that is available? I have been looking for one for a long time.
Yes it can... See Sig Below! Stock bottom end 500RWHP N/A spinning to 7000rpm using the (Junk) Dart 225 heads untouched.
That was before the:
Shaft Mounted Rockers
Lightweight Twin Disc Clutch
Prototype OTR Vararam Cold Air Intake
& through the stock air box.
I am also looking at getting an electric water pump & a carbon fiber drive shaft just to get a little more out of it. I feel 515RWHP on stock bottom end shouldn't be too much of a challenge. Good luck!

It can be done, but it'll take doing a lot of the small upgrades as they add up. Maybe even port match TB to intake manifold, intake manifold to heads.

I came in here to make mention of your car and a couple other setups. The combination and tune will be spot on to hit the numbers though.
As for your cam shaft selection, the lower to mid 23X's will not cut the mustard with most lower end L92 based cylinder heads I would imagine.
thanks for all the replies. i was told i had to be careful with a huge cam with the L92's and stock bottom because of PTV issues. so ported L92 heads with a ported LS3 intake/tb a big cam with 1 7/8 non catted exhaust with ud pullies and an electric water pump should do it with a good tune? and i dont wanna go forced induction (yet) because of heatsoak issues as well as the best power is all motor power.
123 to 125 trap speed with 500hp. I have 500hp in a 3,700lbs car and I trap over 128mph. with my new cam I think i'll be around 130mph in the 1/4mi N/A. I also have l92 heads.
