Cool Countdown & Excitement: 1 (ONE) Day Out!

Can you believe it? 1 month until the 3rd Annual LSX Shootout. That's not very long. What's the status of the car you plan on bringing? Come on; hold back no secrets. Are you already where you want to be or are you working towards a certain goal?

Texas has 100* heat right now and, given, it will not be this hot in Memphis in October, but due to the heat my car runs right in the middle of 2 Index Classes right now! My goal is to make one or the other either by adding more power somewhere (it's tapped out) or slowing the car down within the PCM and/or weight to run the slower number. Either way it will not be easy. We tried different cams and hey, she just knows what she wants to run on right now! The car really talks to me!

Best of luck to everyone participating and I'm curious to know your latest developments and what you are doing to prepare for this great Event!

I'm nervous my car will not be done in time. We are certainly doing everything we can. If it does get done in time, it's very likely I'll be making my first test passes in a Turbo Ls car. So, I'm sure it'll draw some laughs.

I just swapped from a 10" to an 8" converter and installed a much need manual valvebody last weekend. I have also removed some extra weight, installed strange brakes, and a Meziere race WP for about 150lbs off the scale. I'm gonna let the temps go down a bit before heading to the track to test and tune. Last time I ran the car it went an 11.01(still with 10" stall and stock brakes), which was just shy of a half second improvement over my shootout ET's last year. I'm hoping to be right at the 10.50 mark when I get back on the track.

I seriously doubt Ill be able to run this year. Ive been laid off from work for the last few months, and that has really hurt my track time this year. I havent been down the track since March. :sigh:

Just recently, my clutch has started giving me trouble under high load. Sometimes it will try to grab, and just chatter. While other times, it wont even think about grabbing, and it'll just over power the clutch. Pretty sweet for 7,000 miles on a clutch rated for 650 ft/lbs, when Im making around 400! On that topic, I think Im going to give Monster Clutches a try this time.

I need to order some track wheels as well. Ive got tires for them, just haven't decided which wheels to go with. Ive been looking at Street Lights, just haven't seen any GTO guys running them yet. Guess Ill be the guinea pig for fitment.

Switched to an 11" Yank TC, added PFADT Billet/Poly tranny mounts, been running in the 9.30's in the hot weather. MPH has gone up over 150/151. Shortshifting the FLT 4L60E tranny at 6400 has not really slowed the "Barbie Vette" down much. Been racing the IMSM Heads Up on a .400 Pro Tree Series with some success - Very Hard to run against transbrake cars. Will be racing at the NMCA/NMRA shootout in Joliet this week in the LM-EFI 9.50 index. Been to some KILLER cruise nights this summer so far. See you guys in the fall!!

I still have a pile of parts that need to be installed but at least I have everything here finally. Waiting to be installed are new Moser 12-bolt, TFS 215 heads, LS7 lifters, Yella Terra rockers, Fast 92, NW TB, Nitrous Outlet 92mm plate, new wheels and tires, and get down to Futral's to have the car retuned.

I guess I am going to have to give in and get a cage installed as well or I won't be racing at all.

Can't wait, see everyone soon.
