Cool This Guy Just Bought His First LS1

Just bought a 2002 Trans-AM,

Already got one hell of a sound system I just finished installing

Eclipse cd-5000 CD Precision Power - PC21400 = 2800 watts
Subs Precision Power - PC2600 = 1200 watts
Mids Precision Power - PC2400 = 800 watts

Custom kickpods Dual 0 gauge wire power wire 250 amp Load Boss Alternator 2 farad capacitor and streetwires fuse protection Entire interior stripped and covered with sound deadener

ANYWHO, It has the stock hood on it and I want to make it a ram air hood/cool air intake. Where would the best place to get a hood/ air box from be?

Yes, I to would like to drop weight and make it faster... I dont drag, street race at best... But I am definitely looking to make this thing a screaming demon.

i voted for the CAI. it was my first mod i did to my LT1. i would suggest taking care of your intake/exhaust first, then worry about the cosmetic stuff. so start with the CAI, then move on to a ported TB, LT headers, ORY and a catback.

SLP Lid, Long tube headers, gears, tune first. Then see how you like it. When you are ready for more you could do heads/cam swap or some n2o.

2 kicker CVR 12"s, kicker KX1200.1 and birth sheet said 1475 watts, and a sony 600 watt 4 channel for the mids and highs

My SS is differnt though, just a hour ago I took out the backseats

I would ditch the subs and heavy amps, but to each is one's own...

Longtube headers, aftermarket gears, catback if not already replaced, CAI

First mod has got to be a shifter!!! That stock unit is a joke.

Second would be LTs just for the pure sound of it.

well it all depends on what u have to spend....

if your on the cheaper end of things then i say go with the tint, and maybe a short shifter....

if you have the 600-700 bucks and want a brand new hood then do that, if you want just an OEM ws6 hood then look through the for sale section....there are all sorts of combos you can do if you have the money....

personally though....i would finish the exhaust....LTs, !AIR, !EGR, Cutout, Catback or True Duals. Then do the intake setup and if your not going to go too extreme yet just get the LS6 intake manifold and a P/P TB with a lid....or you can spend the money and get a FAST or something along those lines...

just remember that you will need a tune after the LT or the manifold so have some cash set aside for that....

good luck with everything

TRUST ME!!! That ugly ass steeringwheel cover is GONE... That was when I first bought it... That was the FIRST thing to GO... lol

As far as what I have done for the exhaust here you go

Big Optima yellow top battery 6 speed Tremec T56 with Hurst upgrade Magnaflow full stainless cat back exhaust system

I full agree with long headers and the CAI/Hood... I believe that will be my next project... I now only ask... What brand of headers/what site would you all recommend to buy these off of?

Choosing what brand of headers to go w/ is really what material you prefer, and how much you have to spend.

All longtube headers do the same thing, but some cost more because of what they're made out of.

I have PaceSetter coated LT's, ORY, and Magnaflow CB on my SS and I love how it sounds.

My brother has LPP Stainless headers with ORY and the stock CB w/ the dual/dual muffler and the CME tips and I personally don't like how it sounds. It is way too high pitched for me. I've heard from other ppl that LPP headers make it a little more high pitched too.

Kooks are also a FANTASTIC header to go w/ but they are really expensive.
