Default New to LS1's my hybrid Porsche 911 (11/12 back to the body)

I am new to the forum, live in upstate NY (Rochester), and looking for advice. I am currently midway through a complete break down and rebuild of my Porsche 911/930 Turbo wide body. I am setting it up to run an LS1 motor in the back with cooling in the front. I chopped and dropped the top 3 inches.
the car will weigh in at ~2000 pounds when finished.
My knowledge of how to pick the correct engine year and what not is minimal.

Any help or advice would be great.

some pictures below. It is sitting high with no engine or fuel cell right now.

thanks for the info, I was going to Barns & Noble to pick up the LS swap book tonight to help figure out what engine to get.

I have sometime the car won't be ready for the engine till ~January. I still have a lot of body work and weight reduction left. The car will be getting 4 inches wider and is 3 inches shorter with a better angle to the windshield. I also have to mount the fuel cell, radiator & cut, tuck and roll the hood.

yeah those books will help, also try to stay away from a 1998 pullout out they say the computers are harder to tune and they have the perimeter style valve covers where a 99+ will have center bolt on the valve cover.

I believe I am the third or forth owner. one of the previous owners did a sh!t, half a$$ rebuild of the motor so i decided to take the dive.

The car will look just off from a stock Porsche from every angle.

Just wait till I join PCA next year ... (Porsche Club of America)

Welcome, this is going to be an interesting project to follow. Are you going to put a turbo on it? No use in letting the turbo emblem go to waste.

Once I get the LS1 engine in and running I plan on starting the turbo research.

thanks all,
update below with series pictures. Does anyone know where to pick up a LS1 in the northeast for a good price? I am in NY and willing to drive.

Below is my 1st attempt at making a side scoop. I mode both side but finished only one side to see how it will look. The final product will be blended into the cars sides I should be finished this weekend. One is for engine induction other is for oil & tranny coolers:

The engine mounts and adapter

OK, so the P-car just lost a little more weight.
140# from the 2000# makes that a 7% drop to 1860#

before

after

and some updated pics:
