i have a chrome steel bumper from my 70 elcamino, that has some minor surface rust. i would like to recondition it, i have heard of people using a step by step process with sand paper and polishing it out when finished, if anyone could offer some advice on how to do this or direct me to where i can find info on how to do this i would greatly appreciate it.

i use windex for the dirt/rust on the surface and then ill use a chrome cleaner and polish, just take your time, use different types of rags and brushes and you should get it

i also read that a fine steel wool used with a good amount of chrome cleaner/polish would do the job as long as its not benieth the chrome.

yea just test it on a spot where u wont notice it if it scratches the chrome.

yeah rechroming is expensive. i can get an aftermarket bumper brand new on ebay for 200 shipped to my door.
