I have a 396 BB. Im not expecting "good" gas milage out of it but im wondering what i can get out of it. Right now im getting around 4-5 MPG's. its got 11:1 compression, 588 lift cam with 242 duration, single plain intake, 750 double pumper W/ mechanical secondaries, full exhaust, and a 6 speed. Its not tuned comletely yet. I dont even want to drive this car because of the gas milage and i just got the car running a week ago after it sitting for 2 years. I want to drive it but its really not affordable as it sits. Can i maybe get 10 mpg's out fo it you think if tuned good?

Why not 15 or so on the highway in 6th? I got 25-27mpg with my t-56 and really healthy sbc.

I'd say you have fuel/carb issues. Either this or you can't keep your foot out of it.

Seriously sounds out of tune, a 3 speed automatic should knock down 8-10 mpg with a 3.73 gear.

I'm sorry but the words gas milage and Big Block shouldnt even be used in the same sentence :emb:
On a serious note, it sounds like you may have carb issue or as stated above you cant keep your foot out of it

^its easy with 3.23 gears and an efficient setup paired with a t-56 in a 3100lb car.
