I think I will be pulling the old motor this weekend...

all i need is a 4150 oval port manifold -

a 454 flex plate - 168 tooth

Small block front springs

and a aluminum water pump.

If anyone has any of these things let me know.

(And a big block twin turbo system)
(next year)

I wish it was an old one.

Its a new casting zl1. You can buy the block for alittle under 5 grand from GM
Its a 454 because it was custom built with a 454 crank at a shop.

The 69 block is 3946052, the new ones are 3946053 and

It just kills me. I dont know what to do about that. I think it will be to hard to remove.

Any ideas?

I think with some kind of stripper it will always have an orange hue. I dont think I should try to scrape it off. That worked really good when I did the iron motor with 20 year old paint, but I dont know about scraping the aluminum.

I dont know what to do.

Jasco will work but will no doubt leave behind some orange residue, I wouldnt scrape it as it will end up gouging the aluminum. You can tape up every hole and passage, then get a spot sand blaster and use some glass media and I'll bet that will work but will be a slow process.....

I dont know if a spot sand blaster would work, I used a custom build engine size cabinet and tried to blast off well applied paint from an aluminum engine at a shop I worked at a while ago and it never came clean. I was using glass too.

I can’t believe I might have to leave this thing orange.

My iron L72 is orange naturally and all I ever do is day dream about how nice it would look with nice aluminum heads let alone the block too.

That’s the big motor-head in the skies since of humor.
