Hot Rod Power Tour/ Pump Gas Drags/ Drag Week - Pumpgas Drags 09

Does anyone know if they are putting it back on next year? I was told that Hotrod may not. Due to lack of participation. I really hope they do we have a car ready for it this next time.

not many people can afford to run 200 mph. and IMO (again this is only my opinion and probably isnt worth much to most) if you run that fast, you arent a legit street or "pump gas" car anyway.

Yea the term "Street-able" is different in everybodys opinion. In my opinion if you can drive it on the street and meets all the laws it's streetable doesn't matter if it runs 12's or 6's. It's just all in the eye of the beholder. Just my two cents :thumb:

We took the T-bird back out later in the year and was getting things all dialed in. 7.95@182mph on the 93 isn't too bad considering he takes that thing on 30-45 mile cruises all the time, haha. Had bought some new stuff for it and everything. If it had been belt driven, I think he would have started looking into the drag week

As for "pump gas" comment.. In St. Louis for that dynomax competition, you literally watched the guy go over to the amoco pump, fill the thing with 93 and bring it back over and pour into your car for comp. 1400rwhp +/- some. Dont know how it isn't "pump gas"

Was that the Cuda'? Man that thing is sexier then socks on a rooster. I love that car.

Just like everything else, it has gotten where something that isn't the "common street car" will win. I went in '07 and had a blast, but if you think about spending $1500 to race for a possible jacket, that's not as high on most lists anymore, especially considering the economy. Granted the "big dogs will go since they have the funds, but good luck filling a decent field. they picked 75 entries in '07, less than 45 showed up and 35 tried to qualify for a 32 car field.

Considering the NMCA/NMRA do something similar with True Street (minus the pump swill unfortunately) at 7 events per organization at multiple tracks, it allows more participation. Drive 30 miles, get 15-45 minutes of cool down, then make 3 back-to-back laps. No pulling in the pits after the drive and changing stuff, no qualifying runs. Plus the closest to each full second 9-15 gets $100. Not a bad deal for an $85 entry fee, plus you get to race the brackets Sunday.

Part of the problem is that they went to a field format. The first year, it was simple, go the fastest on pump gas and you win. Not rounds, not qualifying, just a street cruise and some laps.

If they had left it alone instead of complicating and over thinking it, the field would just keep growing.

I have a Jacket and as for the street car comment . You should have had to do the cruz the first year 5 on a friday afternoon . pump gas is pump gas. i do agree nhra says i have to do a 25.2 cage and i think that is going to kill the street driving you just cant see out of the cage. but why do guys that cant run good numbers on pump gas always throw the remarks at the ones that can.

I just want it back. I think if the PGD were advertised more it would be bigger. The last couple of years I was there the stands didn't have very many people there. Need spectators to keep it alive. If people don't know about it they will not show up. JMO.

That sucks. Those were my favorite faces because it's always fun seeing people go that fast on 93. They should just change it to stock suspension + pump gas.
