Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - BBC into early 4th gen TA

Ok this is mostly dreaming right now but I was wondering how much work it is to drop a 454(want to stroke to 540) into a 93-97 trans am. I will be aiming at 800-1000 HP with a twin turbo setup but im willing to spray a lil to get it there. I know all electrical will be gone and it will be most likely a carb. Only a weekend/track car for the local meet.
Im looking for a LT1 TA roller but its a slim market right now. I will want to hook it to a 4 speed or 5. Dont know about rear gears but 3.55 sounds good in a Ford 9"

im stuffing a 540 into a camaro. bmr makes a k-member for the swap but personally i would go with a motorplate midplate setup. its going to make your life easier. ill be making about 1800hp with a single 106mm turbo. with twins you wont even need spray. be ready to spend a good amount of money on quality parts. personally i would put an automatic in there for racing purposes and i would also run like a 373 or 390 gear

Im very far off from this project but Might as well dream right. If I get anything besides a 4sp it would be a glide but thats just me since i wil cruise it and miss driving standard. I will look into the 373 or 390. 373 is one of my favorite gears I just didnt know if it would have a high enough top speed for my fancy.

If you lose the wipers and cut the cowl off.

Trim the cowl to about 3/4" from windshield. 4150 Carb fits fine. haven't tried a 4500 yet...

I believe an Accel DFI unit (Tuned Port style) would fit without trimming. A trottle body only requires a small amount of trimming. It's the carb bowls that really interfere with the cowl. Of course, all of this depends on motor position (how low and how far back in the engine bay).
I set mine with the front of the block flush with the front of the shock towers. And the top of the carb bowls about 1/2" below the windshield (using victor jr. and 1" carb spacer).

Yes, but depending on your setup you will have to cut the hood supports.

Let me know when you can get a short write up done in this section, trying to keep it short and sweet with all the pics so i can sticky it, that info helps allot of people doing the swap and looking for EFI.

Yes it's very doable. You would need to run a motor plate setup though so you would have enough room to run all the tubing. A quick idea would be vertical radiator, battery relo, ABS delete, twin front mounts with the DP's facing in like DopFedZ and Tiago. Charge pipes going to a FMIC and back up to an elbow like mine. I would have liked to go that route, but I'm trying to do all the work myself and building headers aren't my strong suit.

so there is enough room.
thats the main thing I was worried about for that much tubing.
But then again who knows what I will find thats a better chassis to build on.
Only time will tell.
