Hey I'm looking to remove the peanut port heads on the big block will anything older work. Don't want to spend a ton just change compression without doing pistons. If possible keep the TBI on it now. Thanks for the replies and help.

I think the heads are different from the old ones, i have never messed with the newer stuff.

All the 454 SS trucks used blocks compatible with the earlier heads so any will work. Just avoid the Gen 5 and 6 stuff.

I have a set of 4291 heads but with the 113cc they will drop the compression to much its low now. I think its like low 8's its say 8.5 but some say as low as 7.9 range. Thats why I was thinking of smaller cc heads. Thanks for the replies.

The big block heads changed in 1992, thats when they went to GEN V. They can still interchange, but you don't need to worry about that.

I increased the compression on mine, and went from peanut port to large oval and it made a huge difference.
I even kept the peanut port TBI intake. Everything bolts right up.

If you want a better intake to go with bigger ports you can either get a carb intake with a TBI adapter or get the edelbrock TBI intake.
The edelbrock has small ports but enough material to open them up, it'll take a good day to port one to large oval size too, it's a lot of work.
