Here's what I've just built...

2 bolt main 350 bored 30 over, flat top pistons, stock crank and rods, iron vortec heads 062 casting number with a 5 angle valve job, crane energizer 274 hydraulic tappet cam, 1.5 roller rockers, crane valve springs, edelbrock performer vortec intake and 600cfm edelbrock carb. also electric fuel pump. what do you think that'll make?

360~ FWHP assuming 9.5:1 compression, headers with mufflers. Give or take 10 hp

300 WHP in a RX7 = FAST AS HELL

If everything is right, you are in the neighborhood of 375 HP and 400 FTLBS TQ.

^If it only make 300hp then theres something wrong, youll be easily in the 360-380hp range. Step up to a roller cam and run a RPM air gap and you could push 420-430fwhp. That should be a stout combo for driveability and low end torque, expect a broad powerband with nice response.

My plan is to get the car put together and drive it for a while (87 rx7 turboII) then once I can afford to, build the engine full roller and at that time go fuel injected. I'd need to have some head work done to let these vortec heads take more than .450 lift at the valve, retainer to guide clearance is an issue. and you gotta enlarge the pushrod holes if you want to use 1.6 rockers, im told. Maybe I should get different heads at that point.

are there any aftermarket fuel injection systems that arent thousands of dollars? I saw the holley pro jection setup but says it only supports like 275hp and is still about a grand. Would a corvette TPI intake work? AND just in case I decide to blow my budget all to hell, whats the best overall injection system for the money?

On any head with a round pushrod hole you don't need to do anything to it to install 1.6 rockers.

I had the same set up in a truck, all the parts you listed. Someone desktop dyno'd it at 310 hp peak (forgot @ what rpm), and over 400 ft lbs from 1800 to 4500.
Not bad for the 4x4 I put it in, but if you want to go quick, it's not the best combination IMO, you need rpm's.

Do not buy that Projection shit! Nobody really makes a good setup except the Accel DFI but that aint cheap, there is no reason to run fuel injection on a sbc. Buy a nice carb and never look back
