Stereo & Electronics - no power to compressor

There is no power going through the electrical connector to my ac compressor. it has ground but no power. we checked the relay and fuses that were under the hood and all were good. anyone know what the problem could be? the motor has been in and out twice BTW.

There are low and high pressure switches on the system that will allow the compressor to kick on.

What are the pressures on the system with it off? If there is pressure in the lines you can try jumping across the low pressure switch connector. If the compressor kicks on and the system runs fine, then the low pressure switch is bad.

I don't know anything about ac really but I doubt there is any pressure because the compressor is not coming on at all. there is no power to it.

you can have pressure without the compressor coming on, my compressor kicked the bucket and i still had plenty of pressure in my system. My guess is you just need a new compressor, sucks because they are about 200-300 bucks

NO ITS NOT THE COMPRESSOR!!!!! there is no power coming to the compressor to turn it on! I am asking if there is maybe a common problem for their not being any power to it, or what to look for when searching for the problem.

its a wiring or electrical issue, not the compressor.

will the scanner at autozone find this code?

Thats probably a vehicle specific code, so I dont know if the autozone scanner will read it.

Did you try tracing backwards in the circuit? Whats the next thing in line before the compressor? Check both sides of it to see if there is power coming to it, but not out. If it doesn't have power coming to it, then move to the next thing before that.

Have you checked the HVAC fuse in the dash fuse panel? The compressor relay is controlled by the PCM which responds to the AC request from the dash controls which are powered by the HVAC fuse in the dash. Without it, the compressor relay will never activate to send power to the compressor.

Stop what you are doing and find someone with a set of a/c gauges. You say there is no power to the compressor, right? That is most likely because the criteria needed for the pcm to switch it on are not being met. In a/c diagnosis, the next step now is to make sure you have proper refridgerent pressure. If you have no freon in there, the pressure switches will not signal the pcm to turn on the compressor. This is because if you continue to run a compressor without freon (which also carries the oil that lubes your compressor) you will seize your compressor. You said the engine has been out twice?? There is a good chance an a/c line was removed in the process. Maybe it has not been recharged, or there is a leak which has caused the system to go too low to trigger the pressure switch.

I saw that, (i forgot to add your quote) thats why I wanted to bring it back up again, I would hate for him to waste his time on something so simple that is a very likely cause.

sorry i must of missed that post. when i get a chance in a couple days I'll check the fuses and pressure. its snowy today here.
the motor has been out twice but we never disconnected any part of the ac system.
