ok guys so for quite sometime now i've been wondering about these additives that many gas stations are starting to add to there tanks. i know BP has an additive and i just saw a commercial for the new Shell nitrogen enriched gas and im sure there are many more but i mean are these additives safe for all motors? im just curious it may seem like a dumb question, sorry if it doest belong here.

these companies test their new products heavily so im sure they wouldnt put a harmful additive in their gas

I was actually wondering about this too. I saw the add for the new Shell with Nitrogen and wanted to find out how it exactly works and if it actually works or just garbage.

Additives to perform a function. They cost money, and they do have some effect (usually positive). They are also a great additive to the marketing ads. What consumer wouldn't want "Powertron" in thier tank?
One thing is for certain. The additives you put in your tank out of a bottle is pure snake oil. "After running one bottle of our product through your tank, your seats will feel softer than new".
What a pile of crap to pull on Joe Motorist.

^^ techron isnt to bad. they do sell that in a bottle you know. bg sells one you put in the tank. i used it on my old el camino and it stopped deiseling so it cant be all bad. as for most others, i completely agree
