Here's the deal, I pulled down our 355 factory hyd roller cam motor and have stabbed in a solid roller. Thing is that I don't really want to spend $400 for the .300" taller lifters for the factory roller block. I've read a couple places that the BBC lifters will work. They are both .842 diameter. I'm sure the tie bars will have to be switched because of the spacing difference but that's ok if I can get them on the cheap. Anybody know if this is a possibility?

Well on early small and big block, the lifters were the same. On the rollers you got me. I think the hydraulic roller lifters are the same but of course the tie bars are not.

Most lifters are the same other than the tie bars.

The SBC/BBC lifters are the same, you just need to order the correct link bars. What brand are you going with, I believe I might have a set of Comp Cams SBC link bars.

Yes after I've done some more research and part number referencing I've found that even the hyd and solid roller lifters are interchangeable so long as they are not crazy aftermarket weird diameter ones, or offset for weird valve locations. .842 is the stock diameter, and the ones that are made for a factory roller BBC will work in a factory roller SBC as long as the tie bars are removable so that they can be swapped with the SBC tie bars. I've been looking at the endure-x comp cam lifters. I just hate that I'm going to have to spend $400 + just for lifters :(
