Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - I have a ? for you LT1 guys...

Im thinking of getting a LT1. How much does it cost to get a 383 stroker motor and is that motor forged also? Also, what id i just get the components to do it, crankshaft, etc. how much would that run me?

for a 383 you need a chevy 400 crank, 6" rods,and the block needs to be machine for clearance, and you need the appropriate harmonic balancer. i believe eagle and scat make 383 swing sets probably run you 1500ish for parts plus machine work on your block

not sure why you need 6 inch rods but if you google i am sure you can find different kits. unless you are making 700 plus horse power a good cast steel crank and stock rods are fine.

I dont trust stock SBC rods over 450 HP unless they are pink rods or powdered, then 550 is where i say fuck it and go with SCAT I beams till i know i will be over 700 H, then i get the H beams.
