ok i have recently purchased my camaro that had been sitten for a while and was started up every now and then. the engine was rebuilt about 3000 ago and the oil was changed not to long ago as well. however, it had been sitten like i said. i had drove the car for a few days after i got it and then changed the oil. and when i had changed the oil it was very clean and the engine ran completely fine. only thing noticable was an exhaust leak from the header gasket. and the oil that was in it was a synthetic blend. and i didnt really care much for it so i changed it to royal purple since that is what i had put it all my other vehicles. took it out to the track that weekend and it ran fine. afterwards i could put my finger on the rocker arm while the engine was running and the oil was still nice and purple. i thought it was crazy that the engine was so clean on the inside. so i continued to drive it here and there sometimes and still use my truck to go to work. this past week i noticed a sound like it could be a lifter or rocker arm, something like that. and so i went ahead and checked the oil out of instinct and noticed that it had gotten dark and i also discoverd really fine metal shavings in it. and yet another thing i have noticed is that when i take off the oil cap i dont see as much oil coming out of the side of the rocker arms as i did before. however the engine still runs extremely strong but i try not to drive it unless i really need to. so right now im lookin for ideas of what could be going on and what i should do to resolve the problem without majorly replacing something.
