I know this probably has been discussed a 100 times or more but my question is what i hope to be a simple one. I pulled the v6 out and i'm putting a 406 in. Just so i can get the car back on the road, if i use a motor plate, am i able to keep the stock k member in? And if i do, would putting a aftermarket k member in later effect anything? i guess the only thing that might cause a problem with the stock k member is the headers. Thanks for the help.

No problems as long as it is set up correct. The headers will be no issue as long as they are for a 93-97 LT1 motor, they will work fine.

so the stock k member can be used for a gen1 sbc swap?

what all there is needed to get the engine in (mounting wise) just custom engine mounts?

from the stickies i was under the impression that a new k member would be needed

When putting in a motor plate, what determines where the engine sits and the angle? I read that you want 3 degrees tipped back at ride height. But how do you determine that without the engine and trans in? Zones, I'm glad i read your sticky about your swap. I was about to cut my cowl. I am now going to wait to see this works out. Would kinda like to keep wipers.

If you cut it like i did you will be able to keep them. Yes, the LT1 K member will mount up ALL mounts for the SBC and work, mine is fine and i beat it daily. 3* is about right, but you need an angle finder and to know what the foreward angle is on the intake to subtract and get the correct lineup.
