i have white smoke after a new set of lifters went in.
is coolant the only thing that could cause this?

i torque the manifold down in sequence at the proper torque spec.

i dont believe its the intake leaking, i ve done so many of these.
but what else could it be.

its a full size chevy with 168k miles on it. stock

So, this is initial start up or it constantly does this now?

i thought it was constant, after a test drive it was still doing it but upon start up now it has chilled out quiet abit

Valve seals could be he culprit.

why are you thinking valve seals? that would be blue.
I would suggest checking the oil and making sure you havent made a milkshake. Really there are only a few things that could have happened,
1. head gasket blown
2. intake gasket bad (either not seated properly or torn)
3. crack in a coolant passage.

Is it better/worse when warm?
