Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - Solid motor mounts?

What do you think? What are the pro's and con's of running solid motor mounts?

Dont know yet, i bought a set for my 89, but it wont be using them till the new motor is built.

I know a solid trans mount is not good, between vibration and DT shock, the solid trans mount can be bad.

you're gonna want to use a rubber or poly trans mount with them or you'll tear up transmission cases with any kind of power.

i have them on my 86 camaro. your motor will not rock anymore. mine use to shake like crazy. solid motor mounts made it not rock much anymore, you will feel the vibrations more in the drivers seat. i have a poly trans mount. so far so good.

Yeah I'll be matching it up with a poly trans mount. Im looking forward to the new setup once the motors done.

you'll need both motor and tranny mounts solid to keep from busting the tranny case cause if one is permenantly mounted and the other can shift, then the only weak point left is the bellhousing. i would go poly/poly on them. it will keep vibrations down and still keep the everything where it shift instead of break.

I have run solid motor mounts on many of my cars and love them, the vibration is not bad at all, and they help put the power to the ground. Run the poly trans mount though, in most cases the companies that sell solid motor mounts will suggest you run a poly trans mount. The only time i run a solid trans mount is if i am running a motor plate. You will like them, they will keep that motor in place and put more power to the wheels.

For a street car, there is no need to run a solid mount. As previously stated, Never run a solid mount on a street car. I have had great luck with poly mounts. Vibrations are minimal and the torque rocking is greatly minimized.

NEVER??? LOL! I run solid mounts on both my fbods and love it. I hate it when people are worried about the small things. RUN EM AND RUN EM HARD!
I gOt a better reaction time strong pulls on the street and strip. Overall the best type of mounts I have used. I have SPOHN solid mounts on my 99' SS A4 and on my 01'Z28 M6. You wont regret it and you will never look back at the poly engine mounts and rubber engine mounts.... BUT DO INSTALL POLY TRANSMISSION MOUNTS!!!! A MUST!!!!!

Yeah I have a poly trans mount in the there already from when I put the 700R4 in.

i have poly engine mounts and had a poly tranny mount, too much vibration coming thru the car.
i want to now run one solid mount and keep the rubber tranny mount. the reason i want to run one solid mount, is so i can have space to run my downpipe over my crossmember.

do think i will have a problem running one solid motor mount and keeping my rubber tranny mount?

i use solid mounts for the fact the car reacts quicker at the track. helps reaction time.

Ran solid mounts on the street for years & years. It's a hot rod.
I doubt the difference will be that hard to deal with.
They last forever & there is less slop when hammering it.

For what it's worth. You NEVER run solid motor-solid trans, in any street car.
If you do, you will break, the case one day. It might be a day, or 3 years.
I don't care who recommends it. Don't do it. Anyone with a clue says the same thing.
It has been proven thousands of times, only a professional quality chassis should use solid-solid.

I use the solid lenco mount on the fast car as the limiter. Only because it has zero flex.
On the slow car I still use a poly trans mount. Never had a problem street or track.

NEVER run a solid tranny mount unless you have a tubular chassis and a 2 motor plates, 1 in the front and a midmount.
