I saw this on the News yesterday and could not believe this. This woman was fired from a Dodge dealership, because her parents bought her a Honda for a graduation gift. Here is the link to the article and the video.

I hate this policy. There was a few months ago the same here in the newspapers. A man drove a Ford and is not allowed to park near his work (in a VW factory). Loyality is a good thing, but it can get ugly very fast.

You saying she should just buy what they offer regardless of what she wants or saying that the dealership needs to deal with not having what she wanted?

I'd bet there is more to the story than her just driving/owning a Honda.

I will agree with that, My mom bought a brand new sebring back in 2002 or 2003, she had nothing but problems with that car. One being the engine was toast at 47K miles. And I pretty much had to threaten the manager at the dealership for them to fix it as she bought an extended warranty and they said they weren't going to honor it.

You would think she would want a Hemi. I can't imagine that Civic lasting hauling that 6 neck monster around

There is always more to the story then what the news states.

Hiding facts makes it more interesting.

Seriously, if she was a good employee would they lay her of for only this reason?
Due to the economy could this be a cover for a bad that isn't doing well?

My uncle worked for Ford in a white collar position until taking a buyout a couple of years ago. From chats with him employees not driving fords in Dearborn parked on the furthest portions of the parking lots and took much grief about company loyalty from Co-workers.

Take it easy

My mom used to work for a coke bottling fascility and if they were caught with anything other than coke products, then they were eligible to be fired on the spot.

She once had mountain-do in her glass and a manager walked by. The manager asked what is in her glass. By this time my mom is already turned around and speed walking while chugging the mountain-do into the woman's bathroom to wash out the glass...the guy asked to smell her breath as she came out of the bathroom lol.

Corporations or quite competitive sometimes.

there is more to this story

her quote saying she doesnt want to get hired for full time as a teacher with a job termination on her record

what record is this?

teachers do not get hired by job history, more like references and doing well on state proficiency tests

I am student teaching in the fall so I know how this goes

my grandfather worked for Delco 30-40 years ago and he said all non-GM cars had to park at a lot farther away. Firing is a little extreme though.

The comments made me chuckle:

# Denise Wednesday, May 27 at 10:02 PM FLAG COMMENT She's still fat and is just trying to make this story sound what it is not just to make some money so she can buy more cheeseburgers...wake up people..facts are not all out there. She sucked, pissed off the staff...she knows it, and they wrote that glowing recommendation letter so someone else would take her off their hands without being jerks so that she would never find work again....which now will be the case....way to go fatass! ...

Sofrito Sunday, May 24 at 12:08 PM FLAG COMMENT Illinois is the home of the Ku Klux Klan and the birthplace of an inordinate number of knuckle dragging mouth breathers. Why a I not surprised this happened there?

That being said, a good friend of mine works at a Honda plant and bought a brand new Pontiac G5. To my knowledge he hasn't received a bit of grief.

I can't believe she'd actually want a car that wont crap out on her in a year....If asked, would you actually bet your life or the life of a loved one on her car not crapping out within a year?
Generally speaking, Hondas are certainly good cars but no car line is perfect or flawless 100% of the time, no car can actually be guaranteed to give you absolutely no trouble whatsoever/never break down.
If I didn't know any better I would think you're actually trying to imply otherwise.

my grandfather worked for Delco 30-40 years ago and he said all non-GM cars had to park at a lot farther away.I see no problem with that at all.
I also see no problem with a Pearl Harbor attack survivor never buying a Japanese badged vehicle or a Holocaust survivor never buying a German badged one either.
I suppose there are plenty of you here that find principles such as that to be completely preposterous. Maybe they are and maybe they aren't but I would probably suggest not judging someone based on that until you've walked in their shoes for a while.
Some things are just far more important (and some crimes are simply far too heinous) to some people than the basic premise of forgive and forget.

An American citizen chooses to drive a domestic nameplate vehicle on U.S. soil...I would think a Honda employee would have some freakin' nerve giving him grief for that.
Now let's see a Honda plant employee (be they Japanese or American) living/working in Japan try that, I'm betting the results would differ. ;)
