This is for my buddy again,
His truck is 86 chevy on 40" mud tires. The motor is:
350c.i.
.030 over
camel hump heads
longtubes
holley 750 carb
It's a trail truck with some mud action. He wants something with some torque but not a turd up top. Nothin too radical but wants some lope to it.

I had a Comp 268H that I loved. It was in a 327 with a Performer intake, 650 carb, and 2.02/1.90 valve heads. About 9.2 to 1 compression. I made good torque through the mid-range and didn't sign off on power until about 5,400 RPM.
That would be my choice.

He bought the XE274 grind. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm no cam expert.
If he has a set of 4.10's or deeper and a mild stall (Comp says 2200 RPM or more) he should be fine. It's supposed to make power up to 6k RPM but he shouldn't need to spin to that RPM especially if he doesn't have the valvetrain to support it.
Make sure he has a decent set of springs and proper length pushrods. Thats a near .500 lift cam.
