Just curious how you guys are mounting up your licence plates...I need to have my front end repainted this week so I am going plateless at the front after it's done until I can figure out where I am going to put it. I have the front mount bracket right now, but I hate it...tends to scratch the nose of the car with the vibrations...
So lets see some pics of how you guys are mounting em up...and for those of you with the plates in the windows, have you guys recieved any tickets? Right now I have kind of suction cupped the plate to the bottom of the window but in the middle...doesnt appear to be obstructed as it sits...atleast that is my arguement anyways...

Having it on the dash or inside the windshield isn't acceptable. At best you'll get a warning, worst case a ticket.
There are some hideaway mounting options for when the car is parked (shows, etc) but it still has to be visible while the car is being driven.

i dunno...law says it has to be mounted in a conspicious area in the front and rear the vehicle...doesnt say anything about the bumper...I think I might just order a grill and zip tie it to that...not sure how thats gunna look though...

both my neighbours are cops so i asked them, it has to be visible no matter u mount it on the front it all depends on the cop too

so as long as I have it suction cupped to the front window for now, and it is 100% clearly visible... I should more or less be okay? thats the impression I get when I read the traffic act anyways...

Mine is in my room. I haven't used it yet.
Been stopped once for it, but never ticketed.

The firebird for a little over a year.
The '89 Camaro for 4. I ended up getting a 'fix it in 72 hours and we'll drop it' ticket on that car.

i've seen people mount them on the air deflector underneath. what i do is have the license plate on and then cover it with the bird frontplate so that ifa cop pulls me over i'll say i came from a carshow and forgot to pop it out.

Nice, I was looking for something like that for the back plate...everything I saw looked like it fit too bulky back there...would come in handy for some toll roads...

You could use an actuator (like they use to lift car audio amp racks). You could mount it inside the car with a hole cut behind the lic. plate holder for the actuator (piston) to stick thru.
Put a clamp on the front of the actuator to adhere to the lic.plate frame and when you hit the power button the actuator (piston) pushes out and pushes the lic plate down. Then press the button again and the lic plate flips back up (as the actuator retracts) !!!!!:nod:

This looks pretty cool.

I always thought of adding a the plate on a hinge with a little lock. Then press a button and it unlocks and dangles free. So if a cop pulled you over, you could say that it was just dangling and he couldn't see it as the wind blew it up. Once stopped on the side of the road... it'll dangle freely. :)
Then, when he leaves... just rehook it up into place.

i tried the license plate behind the windshield thing. lasted about 2 days before i got pulled over and got a 150$ ? ticket. but if you fix it and show it to the judge they withdraw the ticket.
