My truck will idle fine and runs alright at full throttle. It will almost completely die right off of the line and I have to manually shift it at a high rpm if I want to get anywhere. It seems that any time I am running only on the primaries it runs like crap and still not so good on the secondaries because the primaries might be plugged? It's a stock 350 with a quadrajet, new in line filter, no in carb filter, new plugs and ignition. Don't blame the timing because it ran perfectly a few days ago and nothing has changed. I replaced a few plugs today that were completely oil fouled but it didn't really feel different. I will pull the rest but they were replaced a few days ago due to oil fouling because I used 5w-30 by accident in a worn out motor. The in-carb filter I got at the auto parts shop seemed was shorter than the one that came out, but was the correct part number. So maybe the filter was too short and let junk by, therefore plugging it up? This thing falls all over itself and is really undrivable. Any help would be appreciated. And let me know if more info would help diagnose the problem. Also, could a bad egr contribute to this?

i would guess it's dirt in the transition circuits, since you mentioned the filter fit problem.
If the carb hasn't been off the engine in a while, then i would pull it and get it on a bench to clean it out with carb cleaner and compressed air.
do you know the history of the carb? did it come with the truck as oem so you know the carb as is should make the engine run perfect, or could a previous owner messed with stuff?
I would agree ignition, timing, and spark plugs are not the problem since the engine runs alright at full throttle. I'm not that well versed with quad's so i don't feel that comfortable telling you specifics of what to look at or try changing, but if it's all stock then it should work. I do know that quadrajets pull fuel from the main jets sooner than other carbs like holleys, and throttle blade position relative to the transition slots are important, so check that when you get the carb on the bench. You may want to buy the book "How to build horsepower vol.2" by david vizard, should be < $20 off amazon and has some good practical info on how to tune and where to look for quadrajets. And my favorite if it's still available is Motorbook's Carburetor Performance- how to tune & modify, has a good section on quadrajets too.
as for egr, I think if it were a problem you would have idle problems more so than off idle cruise problems, or you would have full throttle problems from the egr not closing.
