Certinly they used something other than just stick on wheel weights.... something where the adhesive won't simply melt.

That's the most bootleg "fix" I've ever seen. That's a pretty cavalier response for an unbelievably ridiculous situation. I would be furious if that were my car. Fortunately, it's not. :D

Is that not something that should be figured out during development/testing? Especially considering how long this car was in development...

Besides the brakes how about the giant wheel weights for the giant wheels.

It's just a noise issue, has nothing to do with the performance of the brakes. They will all be replaced with the new style ones as well.

Old news, not even really anything to make a fuss about......
Edit: Figures once the media/press finds out about something like this they blow it up into a huge deal.....I bet you go to a dealer and look one and you probably wont even see these brake weights, the yellow one at a dealer here that is a SS does not have them.

They were put on the first hand full of cars to remedy a brake resonance.

Well apparently GM admits what its there for and resolved the problem.
After reading the Toyota threads on here isnt that all anyone wants?

No, cause this is GM. Toyota gets a free pass...remember?

Mass damping is a normal method employed by most modern OEMS for lowering resonant frequecies of a component that is being excited at an objectionable frequency. Strange how the internet writer just assumes they are regular wheel weights and assumes they are held on with regular wheel weight adhesive. Rumor and conjecture seems to be the norm and I read very little factual information in that piece. No surprise, people with no experience or background in the industry are willing to spew thier crap to increase readership. If I was the journalist I would have talked to GM before posting an open ended piece.
