When you mix leaded fuel lets take VP C12 and mixes with pump 93 50/50 is it a clean mix down the middle?

Why does leaded gas kill the o2 ? how long does it take? What do they do when they start to go out ?

My buddy has a car that was built and tuned in middle US on E85 fuel.
Can he mix 80%meth / 20 % gas. To make something like E85 here where we don't have it ? Most likely will need retuning just thinkng ?

I thought the leaded gas was just bad for the cats.

E85 requires retuning and its not always easy to get. In California I think there is one place that sells to the public.

I have always used my wideband for leaded. 2 years and prob 5,000 miles on it & still runs strong! its a basic wideband o2.

I'd like to know if you could run leaded gas on a ls engine as well, I'm not running cats so I don't worry about those. Can anyone confirm if it'll hurt 02 sensors?

it will over time. how much time? that depends on lots of variables and no one can be sure.

Catalyst poisoning occurs when the catalytic converter is exposed to exhaust containing substances that coat the working surfaces, encapsulating the catalyst so that it cannot contact and treat the exhaust. The most notable contaminant is lead, so vehicles equipped with catalytic converters can only be run on unleaded gasoline.

Gotta love Wikipedia

But what about us guys without cats? How long before the 02's are shot running leaded gasoline?

Leaded gasoline contaminates the oxygen sensors and catalytic converters. Most oxygen sensors are rated for some service life in the presence of leaded gasoline but sensor life will be shortened to as little as 15,000 miles depending on the lead concentration. Lead-damaged sensors typically have their tips discolored light rusty.

Ngk has a good sensor for your wband thats stands the lead, And Fook cats and os sensors...lol

I burned up my O2 sensors the first time i used leaded race fuel. My car only has
38000 on it. I dont have O2 sensors in my car at all anymore. I had them tuned out

yes the leaded gas will kill your 02 sensors and your cats no telling how fast it will cover the surfaces but in time it will kill them

high HCs (unburned fuel) will also kill them

ive also seen 02s not killed but not working anymore because of an exhaust running too cold, this was on an eclipse i worked on, the kid had straight pipe exhauts with no cat and norestriction whatsoever and the area around the cat only ever got up to around 350 degrees. i pulled the 02s out and they were black, cleaned them with a torch welded in a cat and off he went car is running fine now

my o2s went bad after using like 2 gallons of 110, the sensors only had like 12,000 miles on them before
