Stereo & Electronics - back flap in the rear hatch area ??

Did not know which forum to post this in but what is the flap for in the rear hatch area used for ??? I would like to install my power amp there is this used for something ??

its just meant to cover up the hatch well area, nothing other than decorative.
the only potential issue id see with mounting an amp there is that it is kind of flimsy, if you look at it, it doesnt really like holding weight, so if its a smallre amp id say go for it, but no way my big kenwoods would fit on there

its a cover for the trunk...so ppl cant look into your hatch and see whats in there

It also reduces sound to a great deal in the cabin. (Exhaust sounds resonate in that trunk cavity, which is cut down by the flap.)

I think this is the main reason.. Ride around with it flipped the other way a few days. Subwoofer sounds better with it open but road noise is more noticable. So pick your poison....
