Automotive News, Media & Press - New CEO at GM

Did anyone else catch the sound clip of Edward Whitacre Jr., GM's new CEO, saying "I don't know anything about cars."

He goes on to say that he does know about "big business" and "employees."

And the current administration appointed this man to head GM?

FYI, he headed AT&T in the 90s and 2000s.

I was just reading about him saying that at the below link. From what I've gathered he doesn't seem like the person for the job. :bang:

Who would be better? It's sad to say, but no one probably knows a lick about cars that they would have appointed. Probably no high ups in any compnay know jack smack about the cars. It's all buisness to them.

Agreed, he's not there to micro manage the manufacturing part of the business. There are already qualified people for that job. He's there to re-build a business. No complaints here.

i believe fords CEO came from outside the industry. so far he seems ok.
